    Defence spending

Viet Nam was not a war. It was a political chess match engaged in by a U.S. government that had deluded itself as to what the real threats were to the U.S. The U.S. was at that time run by a bunch of elitist Ivy Leaguers who had a macho mentality, but had never been in a fight, not even in grade...

Are they talking about same tire? Tirerack reviews

Well said CapriRacer. The best thing that you can do with the tires on any new vehicle is take them off and sell them, and then install tires that meet your driving needs and desires.

    Cleaning 22LR?

Jeez. The answer is simple. Since time immemorial its been known that you should clean any rifle, shotgun, or handgun after each shooting. Period. And there is no way that an aluminium cleaning rod will harm the interior of a barrel, because aluminium is a much softer metal than steel, which is...

    Chicago Style Hot Dogs

The original post refers to "Neon Green Sweet Relish + Sport Peppers". I never heard of either of them, and to the best of my knowledge they don't exist. I assume that this is yet another attempt of Chicagoans to con the rest of us into believing that their tastless, disgusting cuisine is the...

    Junior Johnson's midnight moon

Junior Johnson is one of the original NASCAR greats. One of the founders of the NASCAR circuit. He ran moonshine in the 40's and 50's, driving vintage, souped up, moonshine running cars of that era in the hills of the south, evading the feds. To this day he is on record as being proud of that...

    End of the World?

The English usage in that quote is so pathetically poor that it indicates that the writer is a moron, so why should anyone give any credence to what he says?

zero tolerance = zero common sense

"We have a Zero Tolerance policy". Ah, yes, this recurring refrain from the totalitarian school officials, who have thereby purposely suspended their ability to reason and to handle problems in a reaonable manner. Their lust to impose their politically correct agenda upon students and their...

Fruits of the forest (well not forest)

My wife and I have gardened together for 39 years. Our garden is now 30' x 60' and was bigger than that (a LOT bigger) when our three kids were at home (they've now left the nest). We never buy green beans, corn, or peas. They are all from our garden (we freeze them). We also freeze and can a...

    Shortening chain saw chain

As a 40+ year chain saw user I must say that in the first place never run a chainsaw with a loose chain. The chain can jump off of the bar, go whipping around, and cause serious personal injury or death. I've always been VERY careful about this, and yet, two years ago I negligently ran a saw...

    New Lawnmower Question

I agree that no coating of anything will last on the underdeck. The abrasion of the grass, twigs, stones, etc., will wear it off. Just clean off the grass with a stick. I've never had an underdeck rust out. Other parts of the lawnmover will be shot long before that.

    Snow Blower Storage ?

In my snowblower I change the oil in the spring and fill up the gas tank with gas with Stabil in it. The Stabil definitely works. The new oil in the spring will last till the next spring, especially since its not used till winter. I do the reverse with my lawnmower and rototiller -- change oil...

Threw away K&N's due to high silicon in UOA's

The last time I changed the oil in my 03 Ford Ranger and 03 Subaru Forrester I had Blackstone do a UOA on the oil from each. The Ranger oil was Mobil 1 and I ran it 8,022 mi. The Forrester oil was Mobil 1 EP and I ran it 10,973 mi. The Ranger had about 22,000 mi. on it and the Forrester had...

Fried Pancake Dish -- Emperor's Piffle

Why would I want to leave Montana (tho truth be told, I sometimes do). This is [censored]'s Country. The camping, hunting, and fishing in Montana are unbeatable in the lower 48. I've lived in Minnesota, Vermont, and Montana. This is it for me. And I HAVE traveled a fair amount in my time...

    Dealing with stress

Booze. Coffee. Splitting firewood. Good TV movies. Go fishing. Go to the local bar, only 1/2 mile away, and talk to the guys and gals. Read good books about the problem. This has helped me especially with my latest stess event--cancer.

    Today's hernia surgery.

I think that almost everyone gets the mesh patch now. I just had an inquinal hernia surgery last Oct. Got the patch. In and out in less than 3 hours at an out-patient surgery clinic. Had same surgery in mid 70's and they kept me in the hospital for 3 days. I also recovered quickly. Modern...

    Cancer really sucks.

Cancer doesn't just suck. It drains the mind, ravages the heart, and erodes the soul. How does that famous line from some author go? Something like "Do not go gently into that dark night. Rage, rage, against the waning of the light".
