Anyone Wear Clogs or Crocs ?

Crocs or Jandals all year round here...but prefer Crocs in the rain as you don't slip out of them.

Had a senior moment, troubles at home will be brewing 1996 TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLE DAYTONA 900

I did that once, just the frame of a rare bike I had known and ridden 30 years before, just a bid to keep track of the sale. I still have it, a project bike if I had time and money.

    Back on a bike.

I'm not a new rider, but coming back to a bike after a few years not riding, and a more modern one than I have used before. I bought the padded underwear before I got the bicycle - I got them for my motorcycle. After a long ride the other day I had a pretty sore butt...I just used to ride...

    Back on a bike.

I used to commute on my old Avanti 12 speed, and bash around our local tracks, but then worked further away and stopped riding. Over Covid I though I should get the bike out again, but it has a bent rear wheel, and I'm not going to fix an old worn out bike. I got another station wagon last year...

    Plastic bags slowly going away

New Zealand banned single use shopping bags in 2019. At the time one of my daughters started a small business making shopping bags, and a friend of hers was marketing them...made out of scraps of material she had collected over the years. Covid put an end to that. You can buy reusable bags at...

Broken Frame on Ram 3500 Dually Hauling Truck Camper

It happens to the Japanese utes in Australia too - they overload them, and then high speeds on outback roads snaps them. Not so common in NZ, we load them just as much, but off the beaten track is much slower going here and they hold out better.

2010 Civic R18 under valve cover pics

Did you adjust the valve clearances ? My wife's Stream has an R20, and we also have L13 and L15 engines in the family, all with valve adjustment. I don't want to go in there for no reason, but I do want to check those clearances. I check my motorcycle valves every year...17 years without a look...

Do aluminum blocks have the same risk of cracking when exposed to water while hot?

Motorcycles have had alloy crankcases forever...and have been going off for as long. They don't crack a case going through a puddle.

    2014 Honda Civic CVT?

One of my daughters has been staunchly anti auto, and will only own a manual, but now there are 3 Honda CVT's in the family, she says her next car will be CVT. Early Hondas with the start clutch (like mine) could give problems, but later ones were sorted. Very popular in Japan, and NZ is similar...

    A bit on "absent fathers"

I woke up in the morning, and Dad had already gone to work....I went to bed at night, and Dad hadn't come home from work yet. He died before he got to 40. Absent fathers.

Mercedes 722.4 Transmission Service - why aren’t they all this easy?

Yeah, it's great that Mercedes have a converter drain, I wish they all did.

How do you deal with a alcoholic relative?

My wife's 3 step brothers were alcoholics, the oldest and longest on the booze has been clean for years, but still a real PIA, and haven't seen him for a few years. The other 2 we just let die - they were both found in their armchairs several days after the event. The latest didn't even get a...

Digging 10 miles underground could yield enough geothermal energy to power Earth

New Zealand has had geothermal power sites since the '50's, and 15 are currently operating. Mostly small capacity, the biggest is 161 MW, and they produce 15% or so of our power. Not much digging required...

Blue collar work clothes (US vs Europe)

Here in NZ, every workshop supplies overalls, 100%. If I wore my own clothes, I'd have to wash them everyday...or take them off when I get home. I go to work, and come home in the same clothes, I get a clean pair of overalls everyday...why should I clean and mend my own clothes from damage at...

Anyone in here have a bike that still has carbs?

All my bikes have carbs, and I can ride all year, we also have no ethanol in our fuel, so everything on this thread non applicable to me. I turn my fuel taps off before I get home, I don't bother to run them out, but there is not much left...clean fuel on a restart.

Looking at a 1991 mitsubishi mighty max

Usually known as the L200 in the rest of the world, it was the main competitor to the Toyota Hi Lux. Most have a diesel engine, but some were petrol. As bullet proof as the Hi Lux and no known problems even with extreme use. They have a cam belt, and balance shaft belt, gearbox issues at times.
