What is this black sediment in the brake reservoir?

Not sure about other cars, but I looked at the service manual for this Mazda and there was no such mention, although logic would dictate that yes the pumped should be activated to get fluid flowing through it properly

What is this black sediment in the brake reservoir?

Thank you all for the replies, genuinely really helpful. I will pull the reservoir in the coming days, clean it, put it back on and monitor to see if anything reappears. Cheers and a Merry Christmas!

What is this black sediment in the brake reservoir?

I see what you're saying, it never hurts to flush but the idea was that before doing that again, I wanted to see if others have had similar experiences, to possibly pinpoint and fix the culprit. That way if I do another flush, the problem won't reappear. I'll start with cleaning the reservoir...

What is this black sediment in the brake reservoir?

Please reread my first post... I just said I installed a new master cylinder last month and did a complete brake flush... and by complete, I literally flushed over 1 liter through the system until all lines were crystal clear. What's point in doing another flush if the problem is going to...

What is this black sediment in the brake reservoir?

I'm inclined to think that perhaps there was some dirt in the abs system. While driving I had to activate the abs a couple of times as I did a complete flush of the system (old fluid wasn't replaced in a long time by previous owner), to make sure I got rid of all the bubbles. It's only after the...

What is this black sediment in the brake reservoir?

Pretty much as the title states, what could this black sediment be? The caveat here is that I just replaced the master cylinder and reservoir on the car in question (09 Mazda) last month, so I'm a little lost as to how all this junk ended up in the reservoir... My only thoughts are a seal...

Odd suspension clunk - 13 VW Jetta Sportwagen

Indeed. In all the cars I've ever owned, this is the first to break a spring. I know springs can break, although I don't think it's that common, at least I haven't heard of many cases, so another first for me

Odd suspension clunk - 13 VW Jetta Sportwagen

Yea so my suspicions about the rear springs being asymmetrical were correct, took the tires off today and immediately found the culprit... Time to order some springs!

Odd suspension clunk - 13 VW Jetta Sportwagen

Yea I realized that now looking for springs, and I thought about the bushings but from the video angle I had I couldn't see neither the dots or the bushings very well... I'll take the tires off in the next few days when it's warmer and have a better look at the springs to see if they are...

Odd suspension clunk - 13 VW Jetta Sportwagen

I wish it were that easy but the plate sits on a bracket, and both are very secure so the plate can't hit the tailgate

Odd suspension clunk - 13 VW Jetta Sportwagen

Hi all, I have been having this odd clunk from the rear that I haven't been able to pinpoint yet. I've been waiting for warmer weather but today when I left my driveway, I heard a new noise as I was pulling out of the... it sounded like the rear springs were binding, kind of like a popping...

    Change your manual transmission fluid!

Thanks for the info. For whatever reason, the liqui moly doesn't list the two vw specs you mentioned on their bottle, but it does list VW G 052 178... I did some cross referencing and Febi 21829 MTF is also a GL-4 75W, which is the exact same as the liqui moly 5100, the only difference is the...

    Change your manual transmission fluid!

Just changed the manual transmission fluid on my 13 Golf tdi which has never been changed. I got the car just over 6 months ago and now it has 140000km at the moment, I put in some liqui moly top tec 5100 mtf which is GL4 rated, and I can say the shifts are a bit smoother, but that wasn't...
