    Best years of jeep wangler

Jeep: all the bs of a truck but you can't haul anything with it. <g> I used all mine with a group of trailers - which seemed like it would be a cool versatile thing, but it really wasn't. Anything since Chrysler bought Jeep has seemed like a train wreck to me. I do agree with the 2wd...

    Xg3387a vs. Xg3980 oil capacity

If the oil filter's 'old oil volume' concerns you why not take the filter off, drain it, and then put it back on? It's a gasket-up type so you can pre-fill it with fresh oil before installing it.

Another "Taxi" Study: Relationship of Engine Bearing Wear and Oil Rheology 872128

Not trying to pick nits but 'an iron timing chair tearing up an aluminum timing cover' would not produce much of the kind of wear-metals-content in oil that lab analysis finds. The ground-up bits from that sort of damage are much larger than 'wear metal', and as you noted, fall or filter out of...

    Mobil 1 High Mileage

The low number designates the viscosity of the oil when cold. The high number indicates how the oil lubricates when hot. So a 10w40 oil has the viscosity of a 10 weight oil when cold - but lubricates as a 40 weight oil would when hot. Where is my mistake?

    Syn vs blend question

My father ran an oil refinery when Mobil 1 was invented / being tested. So for years I was subjected to a blow-by-blow of the test-lab engine teardown reports of essentially zero wear over 100's of thousands of hours under a wide array of harsh and abusive conditions. In 2001 I bought a new...

Any Florida homeowners here? What are you doing about home insurance rates?

Insurance is a scam. And worse; often a legally mandated scam. Insurance companies are in the business of taking money in - insurance companies are not in the business of giving money out. So they much prefer to do as much of the first as they can while doing as little of the second as they can...

Is higher oil pressure better for the engine?

This is a generic question - but the subject vehicle is a 2005 GMC 4.3 engine. Sleeve-type bearings are lubricated because a hydraulic oil ‘wedge' is formed as the shaft rotates relative to the bearing. This is also true of roller type bearings, now that I'm thinking about it, as each roller...

What oil does a 4.3 vortec like the best?

I just replaced a 2005 4.3 at 176,000 miles. I am the second owner and I knew the meticulous first owner. He had lost an oil pump and a timing chain during his tenure. For a good while it had a broken or weak valve spring that would dramatically limit the performance at 94 mph. Various other...

    Mobil 1 High Mileage

There is beef product in that site - but some of it is from the far end of the animal. That site says something which is incorrect. 1. " . . . . What do the numbers in 10W-40 mean? 2. The numbers refer to the weight and thickness, or viscosity, of the oil. 3. Motor oil gets thicker when it's...

HF/U.S. General 30” Bulk Storage Tech Cart

Just cut the top of the bucket down to make it fit. A table saw does a nice job of it but sheet metal shears will work. An alternative would be to source a 'pickle bucket' - these are three gallon.
