    Motorcraft 5W-20, 2,746 miles 04 Expedition 5.4L

I have owned this vehicle since new 03/2004, and my maintenance plan is I just change the oil every 3K sometimes it goes a little over but never past 4K so far. Have always used the Motorcraft 5W-20, I caught a sale at Wal-Mart and got a whole bunch of it a couple of years ago for $1.50 qt. This...

Anyone running straight-weight oils in their cars?

Yea you can probably get by with that on the Gulf Coast, but you might want to switch to 10W-30 around January. Wouldn't it be nice if they made a 20W-30! On the other hand I have a Honda that uses 5W-20. I have sometimes thought about using a straight 20W in the (summer only of course) here in...

Manual calls for 5-20w is 10-40w ok to use?

I wouldn't go any thicker than 10W-30. You might try Mobil 1 5W-30 or 10W-30. By the way I use Pennzoil 5W-20 in my 02 Accord and Motorcraft 5W-20 in my 04 Expedition with no problems and it gets hotter here in Texas in the Summer than it does in Florida, of course I might not drive as hard as...

    5W20 and summer heat

This was my UOA on Pennzoil 5W-20 after going thru a hot Texas Summer temps up to 110F a lot of it in rush hour conditions in the afternoon. http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=000801#000000 Mobil 1 0W-20 IMO would do even better if you don't mind spending...

    5w20 blend or 0w-20 Mobil 1?

If it was in the 70's today you must be south of me. Anyway I think Mobil 1 would be a waste of money with 3K oil change intervals. I would go with Pennzoil, Chevron, or the Motorcraft 5W-20's. I use Pennzoil 5W-20 myself in my 02 Accord and have had good results with 3K intervals. If I was...

    This should settle it......maybe

Look at the Honda factory fill UOA's you will notice they all have a lot of moly at least 300-400 PPM . I left mine in for 5K then switched to Pennzoil 5W20 then I did a UOA at 15K and had excellent wear #'s so I can say leaving it in certainly hasn't hurt my engine. The honda dealer oil is not...

Torco 5/30 severe cold start noise

Yea I know what you mean, I heard a little bit of noise out of my Honda for the first time this morning when I accelerated out of the driveway. I think I may have to let it warm up for about 30 seconds first when it is this cold it got down to 20F here this morning and I'm using Pennzoil 5W-20

    M1 5W30, 2002 Toyota Sequioa 4.7L V8, 7,629 miles

JohnBrowning, Unfortunately you are right, GM used to build good quality vehicles but that was long long ago the last good motor they built was the 3800 but they ruined that when they went to the plastic intakes and routing coolant thru the throttle body (a disaster waiting to happen). Right...

Best oil for 2004 Civic ?

I've had great results running the Pennz 5W-20 in my 02 Accord. I must say though, I am tempted to give the Mobil 1 0W-20 a try and see if the claims of increased mileage from several members is true. But first I have to use up 2 cases of Pennzoil 5W-20 that I got on sale for a great price after...

Call me crazy: First impressions of 5w20 an a 5w30 engine

Thanks Johnny, I haven't looked for the 5W-20 Synthetic lately (didn't know they were making it) but I did about 6 months ago. I will have to keep my eyes open after my case of multigrade runs out, I sure like the idea of a synthetic oil with moly. Yea I know what you mean by the heat, I stay...

Call me crazy: First impressions of 5w20 an a 5w30 engine

Why not, I just ran my Pennzoil 5W-20 through the summer and it gets a lot hotter here than it does in SC not as humid though, not that humidity matters as much. Here is my UOA http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=000801 Johnny, What is the 100% group III its...

Does all the gas in NY contain " ethanol " & is it harmfull to engines ?

Here in Texas we mostly use MTBE for our RFG, which most states our now banning because of its effects on the water supplies, This stuff affects gas mileage for the worse also, I sure notice a difference when I can fill up outside the area (DFW). With this new energy bill that congress passed we...

    Mobil1 0w20 Disappearing?

Yea that is hard to believe since they have had it here in Texas (where we really need it) for at least 6 months now. [ November 20, 2003, 07:46 PM: Message edited by: khager ]
