Fuel contamination in a new RAV4 Prime PHEV. Thoughts? Advice?

No, I am not a frequent short tripper. Most of the short trips involve the ICE engine entirely off while the electric motor does the work. Sorry if my initial post might have insinuated otherwise. Initially, RAV4 Prime drivers note the ICE kicking in randomly. Then they learn what tends to cause...

Fuel contamination in a new RAV4 Prime PHEV. Thoughts? Advice?

It is only in todays strange market where I could theoretically sell the vehicle for more than I paid and then get in line for a Hybrid which does not have the same potential for fuel buildup in the oil. I think the mention by many that my driving qualifies as "severe duty" is quite the hoot...

Fuel contamination in a new RAV4 Prime PHEV. Thoughts? Advice?

Well, that is an option. Or sell it. Sadly kind of for buyers at least, the current state of affairs says I can sell it for $10,000 over what I paid for it. That makes one consider one's options. Like, maybe a plain old hybrid instead. I have grown to hate oil changes. Messy, bad for...

Fuel contamination in a new RAV4 Prime PHEV. Thoughts? Advice?

OK, the RAV4 Prime is Toyota's second Plug In Hybrid Vehicle (PHEV) and has about 45 miles of battery only range. Thereafter it switches to Hybrid vehicle (HV mode) since it "saves" some battery to allow continued hybrid use, in conjunction with the A25A-FXS atkinson cycle 2.5l NA 4 cylinder...

Cheap good oil analysis for fuel dilution?? Blackstone not best I have heard. Wix?

Well that's the issue. Not really clear who does it the right way (GC) and who does it the lazy way....

Cheap good oil analysis for fuel dilution?? Blackstone not best I have heard. Wix?

Well, I have a new Rav4 Prime (PHEV) and they have a habit of turning on the gas engine for a minute once in a while. If you can charge your battery, you can drive nearly 100% of the time in EV mode, but there are reports of drivers that seldom drive long distances with the gas engine running...

Speedibleed brake fluid bleeder, any experiences??

So speedibleed is not speed bleeders. Its similar to Motive system, applying pressure to the master cylinder via an air pressure tank that you also fill with fresh fluid. www.speedibleed.com

Speedibleed brake fluid bleeder, any experiences??

Hey folks, all this reading about brake fluid has me thinking that I should change my ways a little and put fresh fluid in my vehicles a little more often. But I am always a one man operation. Saw speedibleed system mentioned in a couple posts. I have mostly toyotas (Prius x 2 and a new RAV4)...

Longest life brake fluid for vehicle destined to get little maintenance.....

Actually, a little more ahead of college, but good guess:) Finished medical school and starting residency. Needs a reliable vehicle and Dad will be a long ways away. Actually pretty responsible kid, but it always made Dad feel good to dote over her vehicle. By the time she's done with residency...

Longest life brake fluid for vehicle destined to get little maintenance.....

Bosch ESI6 is intriguing. Looks like a rebadged ATE product. Maybe I already have 4 liters of it??!! Couple votes for the Prestone MAX DOT 3 here and elsewhere. Dealer wants $180 plus tax, which would right at $200. No thanks.

That pretty much what I said. I want long life. Not fancy.

Longest life brake fluid for vehicle destined to get little maintenance.....

My 2011 Prius is headed a long long way away with my daughter and I doubt she will ever flush the brake fluid. I have tested the fluid yearly for moisture and its always been dry, but now, with the vehicle setting sail and probably will not be driven home again, I am planning a brake fluid...

Oil for a 1965 F100 Inline 6 with flat tappets and hydraulic lifters....

OK, well back to HDEO then. I was running Rotella oil from 2002 till 2016 which is probably the last time it was changed. Planning to generally swap/replace fluids given all the time I have on y hands. Thanks for the replies.

Oil for a 1965 F100 Inline 6 with flat tappets and hydraulic lifters....

Well, I've been a bad boy and haven't paid much attention to state of the art, but I do know that they continue to change the oil formulation and what is good for my 2020 RAV4 would probably cause my 65 to throw a rod in 20 miles. I've not changed the oil in the 65 for several years (it gets...

Fluid change in 04 Expedition with 4R75W trans...

Did a fluid change on my 04 Expedition yesterday. 164k on the original fluid. It looked OK on the dipstick, with no bad smell, but in the pan it was pretty dark. There was some fine ferrous sludge on the magnet and a good number of fine bright non ferrous flecks that I could see in the sunlight...

Cheapest Decent Mercon V compliant oil???

But you find the darndest things... So I did a google shopping search for mercon V and there's a hit for Castrol Mercon V oil at Advance for 3.99. But you cannot find it when you search Advance Auto, only if you find the link via google. Not quite as good as Motorcraft for $2.79, but after a...

Cheapest Decent Mercon V compliant oil???

I cannot bring myself to let the dealer do a power flush on my 04 expedition with 164k miles. I just have too many visions and stories of that power flush stirring up filings and crud that was safely sitting in some corner not bothering anyone... But the fluid has got to have lost some of its...
