Refused service for bringing my own (OEM) parts

No, I'll just take it to the next shop I called 1 mile up the road who said "of course".

Refused service for bringing my own (OEM) parts

Honestly, I'm easy to deal with. If somehow the OEM parts website sent me the wrong part, I'd simply have the shop supply the right part (even if O'reilly branded) and I would return the part I brought. Again, I only brought OEM parts in this instance because I don't want universal transmission...

Refused service for bringing my own (OEM) parts

Appreciate the replies. I agree with a lot of them. I would not expect a warranty. I also understand shops that are skeptical of taking customer parts as I can imagine the Amazon crap they get (not to mention when it is the wrong part, etc). On the other hand I can see how it would be convenient...

Refused service for bringing my own (OEM) parts

Lucky for me, there's probably 5-10 shops within a 20 mile radius that will gladly take my business.

Refused service for bringing my own (OEM) parts

I have a vehicle that doesn't have a dealership in the area so I often order OEM parts to bring to a shop so I'm not dealing with their O'Reilly / Autozone crap. I called and asked if they'd swap my transmission fluid and filters (with brand new gasket). They said they'd only do the service with...

    Pinging (spark knock?) Lancer

It's worse in warm weather, yes. Never happens when the engine is cold. There are no codes. The only thing I have had done (that I know about) are those things I listed. I think he said he had the scanner plugged in when he did a test drive but he didn't mention anything abnormal.

    Pinging (spark knock?) Lancer

I've done multiple tanks of 91 just to see. I could try 89 but my bigger question is, is running higher octane fuel the only solution?

    Pinging (spark knock?) Lancer

I have a Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 that is pinging when it gets warm. I can hear it when giving it light gas, especially on a slight incline. Running on 87 made it sound like it was really bad for it. Putting 91 fuel in it seems to pretty much make it go away, although I can very faintly hear it at...

ILSAC GF5 vs GF6 for detonation

Will GF 6 help with engine detonation more than GF5 or do these specs (or oil in general) have no relation to that?

Does Vice Grip Garage not know anything about Fram oil filters?

He pulled a silver Fram off a Thunderbird and basically was saying Fram is the worst thing ever and to only run Wix. From what I understand the Toughguards (silver) and ultrasynthetic (gold) filters are very respectable. You have to wonder what Wix is paying him.

I do not but that's a good idea.

    Sporadic no crank

Hello, 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer all the sudden didn't crank on Friday after work. All the electronics came on, blower came on, but no crank. I attempted cranking it sporadically for about a half hour and it finally started up. Next day the same thing occurred but it cranked after just a couple...

    Valvoline CVT document question

What is this document trying to say? There is an asterisk next to a few that says "low viscosity ATF (Valvoline is high viscosity)". Are they still saying it is safe to use for these applications? https://www.filters.gr/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/CVT.pdf

Using Universal CVT fluid for Jatcos

I've read some prior threads about universal CVT fluids in Jatcos. Some posters were adamant that you never put anything but OEM fluid in Jatcos because they are very finicky about fluid. A number of other posters said they use Castrol/Valvoline with 100% confidence and have never had a problem...

Mahle spin on filters, synthetic media?

I have a Mahle spin-on filter for my Kia. Can anyone confirm that the media is fully synthetic (similar to Fram Ultra) and the mileage it is good for?

Knocking sound when coasting and only after I start driving in cold weather

Generally when I park facing down a hill I'll put it in drive and coast with it in gear down to the stop sign going 20-30 mph. If I hit the gas it seems to disappear. It has about 63,000 miles and is using 5w20

Knocking sound when coasting and only after I start driving in cold weather

2012 Kia Forte. Knocking/clicking sound when I'm coasting in drive after a cold start. Doesn't do it in neutral and also doesn't do it when the engine gets just a little warm. Changed oil filter back to KIA OEM and didn't help. Any ideas?
