    Synthetic electric motor oil

I got it a few days ago and I've used it on a couple condenser fan motors and today I used it on a a particularly old dryer drum rollers and idler pulley. I'll know if it's a success in around 6 months.

    Synthetic electric motor oil

Good to know thanks. Would a synthetic air compressor oil be appropriate or would one of the products I mentioned in the OP be better?

What exactly do the detergents do that's a problem?

    Synthetic electric motor oil

I've been tempted to use the same 5W30 synthetic motor oil I use in my cars but I read a lot of conflicting information about whether or not detergent oils are okay on those types of bearings. On the one hand I've got a friend who's been using it for 20 years but then I've also read experts...

    Synthetic electric motor oil

I know in a large part that is the main problem but I've got a few applications where I've seen it get really sticky when I disassemble the bearing and it doesn't appear to have much dirt intrusion.

    Synthetic electric motor oil

The second one is Anderol 465 Synthetic Bearing Oil for Blowers and Motors 1.7 Ounces https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06WP3VDCD/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A2GRIKQ6DRJW50&psc=1 It sounds equally good but is quite a bit more expensive. I'm that kind of person that's inclined to go with the more...

    Synthetic electric motor oil

I am back on my endless search for perfection so I am looking for a better oil for plain bearings that won't gum as easily as Supco turbine oil in the zoom spout oiler. I came across two products which may very well be the same product in different bottles sold by different companies.

    HVAC question

I am pretty sure that thermostat requires installer setup like most digital thermostats. But the guy above seems familiar with them and I am not so without the model number I'd go with his answer. If it's internal to the air handler it is usually much harder to change. Often requires replacing...

    HVAC question

I am not that familiar with Emerson (I am mainly a Honeywell guy) but usually the model number is on the back if you pull it off the sub base.

Field test for Poe or mineral oil?

Thanks. I actually just read about oil refractometers. That should work especially if he knows what the potential oils are.

What is the model number of the thermostat?

    HVAC question

There's a couple of different ways it could be happening. Most electric air handlers have some small time delay built in but many new digital thermostats have additional time delays that you can turn on in installer setup and they are totally unnecessary it's just an energy-saving tactic to...

HVAC service provider incompetence - just a rant.

It's sad there are so many scam companies out there. As a technician and small business owner myself it is very frustrating because those companies give our whole industry a bad name. The reality of it is those preventative maintenance checks that don't cost more than $150 or so there is no way...

Field test for Poe or mineral oil?

I came across an interesting question on a heating and air conditioning forum that I am on. Another member was in a situation where he needed to know if the oil in an air conditioning system he's working on was Poe oil or mineral oil so I was wondering if any of you know of a simple way to test...

    Whirlpool 2 drum roller grease

So I called SUPCO and asked if it was a good idea to oil these DE702T rollers and he said they are pre-lubricated but if I'm seeing excessive failures it wouldn't be a bad idea to lubricate them so I asked what he said some kind of household light oil would be good so I mentioned the supco zoom...

    Whirlpool 2 drum roller grease

They come from the factory dry. I just realized I can call the manufacturer and ask them since I am using SUPCO rollers. Oil may very well be the right thing to use. For some reason my gut thinks grease makes more sense because the service interval is so long at usually every 1 year or less...

    Whirlpool 2 drum roller grease

I am doing the opposite. I am hording as many types of grease as I can and trying to learn their properties as well as possible so I always know which grease to use in any given application for best results.
