    2011 Corolla Transmission fluid change

Is that drain plug gasket the same as the washer?

    2011 Corolla Transmission fluid change

Thanks everyone. So the consensus seems to be that even though it has 110,000 miles that I drain and fill is not going to hurt anything with the assumption that the car is not showing any transmission issues now? It also sounds like Max life is an acceptable replacement for Toyota brand WS

    2011 Corolla Transmission fluid change

My son has 110k miles on his 2011 Corolla. I don’t think the transmission fluid has been changed before. It doesn’t look terrible, not red but not burnt or very dark. Should he do a drain and fill if it has never been changed before or just let it be? He does plan on keeping the car for a few...

    Need new compressor?

It was the compressor and I put a new Denso in. What should be the temperature coming out of the vents or the differential? It was 81 degrees when I was measuring it and high humidity.

    Need new compressor?

Hello, pretty certain I need a new compressor. It is rattling and no cold air coming air. Shop listened to it and feels 95% it is bad but will know for sure once they take belt off and turn it. I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla and live in hot Florida so it gets used a lot. Is there a brand other...

    Crushed washer

Thanks. Sounds like it should be a crushed washer on the honda. How about the Corolla? Crushed or the metal/neoprene or does it not matter if it is a steel pan?

Do you mean one like this?

    Crushed washer

Hello, I have a 2008 Honda Odyssey which I know has an aluminum pan and a 2011 Toyota corolla. I am not sure if the toyota pan is steel or aluminum, does anyone know? What type of washer is recommended to use for each for the oil drain plug? I have seen a washer that is metal along the outside...

    Stripped oil pan

The new bolt was the same length as the drain hole so nothing should be sticking out in the pan, worse case maybe a half a thread It was mentioned a couple times to just tap it and get a new drain plug vs spending a lot of dollars. What is best option or tool to just retap it?

    Stripped oil pan

I just started changing my oil again as we have had to get a couple of cars for the kids so trying to save some dollars, especially with synthetic oil. Last time it was changed by my mechanic. The new longer bolt I put on seems nice and snug so it should be catching the back threads

    Stripped oil pan

If I try to use an oversize bolt are those in increments of 1/8 inch? It looked like I needed to go to a 5/8 from possibly a 1/2

    Stripped oil pan

Hello, I have a 2008 Honda odyssey and the threads inside the oil pan have been stripped. However, only the first four or five threads are stripped and there are still three or four good threads in the back, see picture. I bought a longer drain plug and it seem to catch the back threads and I...

    Castrol Magnatec

My corolla have 55k miles. Should I wait to use the high mileage oil? Not sure if my walmart has non high mileage 0w 20

    Castrol Magnatec

Thanks for all the replies. I was also thinking to maybe alternate between Super Tech and a brand name like Magnatec or Penzoil Platinum. I agree that this engine doesn't need a $30 case of oil.

    Castrol Magnatec

I am trying to determine what 0w 20 oil to use in my 2013 Corolla. Would you recommend Castrol GTX Magnatec? I can get it for $20 or should I go with Super Tech or something else? Plan on changing 6k miles and keeping the car as long as possible. Currently has 60k miles

    Short in Wiring harness

Thank you. In your opinion, based on my test with the plug is the problem most likely between the junction box plug and dome light? Either the wiring or in the light itself?

    Short in Wiring harness

I have a 2013 Toyota Corolla. The fuse for the interior lights and key fob was bad. replaced fuse and it blew again. Found an article that said to disconnect the plug in the driver side interior junction box for the dome wiring harness. I unplugged it, put a new fuse in and the key fob worked...

Oil leak - what oil to use

Had a chance to take the van to my new mechanic. He said there was oil on two bolts near the oil pan and also from the rear main seal area. He could not definitively tell which is causing the leak. I had the oil pump replaced a few years ago but the leak was there before, so kind of leaning...

Oil leak - what oil to use

Would it be beneficial to use a -40 for a little thicker oil or is that not wise?
