My last vehicles (2018 Silverado and 2007 Lexus LS460) were both direct injected. Both consumed oil; with the Lexus it took a while...really started consuming oil after 140,000 miles. With the Silverado, it was right away...usually a quart to a quart and a half between 5,000 mile intervals...

Like others have said, get a subframe at a junkyard and have an independent put it in. I saw one being installed on a Mazda SUV (similar year) last year...it must be a Mazda thing (rear subframe). But it went in fairly easily and wasn't all that big of a deal. 140,000 miles isn't all that...

I'll throw my hat into the ring... No they won't cover it. To diagnose if it's the master cylinder, try "pumping" the brakes when it feels soggy while driving. There are seals in the master cylinder that will get distorted, causing pedal to drop and when you pump the brakes it sometimes...

Actually I disagree with most of the people on this thread. Rebuilt calipers can be pretty poor in quality and can easily end up seizing on you a year or two down the road. Upon close inspection of these things you'll notice some scratches and knicks on surfaces that just shouldn't be there...

Well, I too changed my oil out at 1,000 miles on my first change. And as soon as I did that someone told me...oh, you should have left it in there until 3,000 miles. You want the stuff they put in the oil at the factory to embed into the cam lobes. They put a ton of moly in there on the factory...

I have heard that places keep up with their basic maintenance, but buying a rental can be hit or miss. On one hand most people that drive a rental car are responsible and even careful, on the other there is always that 10% that feel they need to beat the ever living tar out of it to get there...
