    Anyone else tired of Slipknot?

I would like to listen to Liquid Metal, but it sounds horrible. I have completely hard wired sat radio receiver, and I think that really brings out the sibilance of some stations.

    Anyone else tired of Slipknot?

What is 20 on Sirius? I have XM and all of the rock stations sound horrible. I guess the AAC codec can't handle "high speed" music. However, I agree. Sometimes Octane will play the same song way too many times in a short amount of time, really killing it for me. I just keep it on The Virus or...

    Effect of viscosity on VVT

I don't know much about other manufacturers, but Volvo uses a system of solenoids and phasing pulleys on the cams to change cam timing. There is also a position sensor on each cam so the ECM always knows where the cam is and can adjust to compensate. In this system, viscosity has no effect as...

    Rotella synthetic 5w-40 in a 2006 Scion tC 2.4

Man, when I had my old 240 Turbo, Rotella T synthetic was in that engine all year. It flows GREAT when cold, and when it is hot (even with an oil cooled turbo) the pressure was always well above where it should have been. I wouldn't hesitate for one second to run it in the winter.

    Rotella synthetic 5w-40 in a 2006 Scion tC 2.4

I wouldn't hesitate to use it, but if the vehicle is under a warranty, I would not. I would strictly adhere to the recommendations in the owners manual until your warranty period is up. After that, load it up!

best engine/oil combo to reach 1M miles?

Why, a Volvo whiteblock. Redblocks were great, but they just don't cut it when it came to long drains and keeping the oil in the engine, where it should be. Whiteblocks have proven themselves to be stronger than the redblock many times over. In fact, I am currently packing on over 60K miles a...

    Coolant flush with tap water

Just use tap water. If you knew the number of cars that I worked on running around with tap water and coolant mixed up in their cooling systems and doing just fine, you wouldn't hesitate for a second to use tap water also.

I want to try a "designer" oil.

I think it is just a desire to "feel" something from different oils. Which, my logical self knows won't happen, but my OCD self feels, if I pay twice as much per quart for oil, then it should feel twice as nice!"
