28th week of 2021 according the the date stamp. Also want to note that on the insides there is zero cracking it's only in the outside (I've got black walls facing out and lettering in)

    Thoughts on new tires cracking?

I bought these Mickey Thompson Sportsman tires online about 4 months ago and had them installed locally. I haven't put many miles (maybe 200) on them since then and there seems to be cracking all the way around the sidewall. Could this be from sitting and weathering during that time? Anything to...

Lubrication of main and rod bearings question

Ok, thanks. I looked at a couple of kits for that, wouldnt be a bad thing to get and have for future use as well.

Lubrication of main and rod bearings question

Yes, will do. My biggest concern was the rotations by hand that were done with the brake clean down there. Im wondering if as long as it not spun at speed like with a starter or by the motor firing up that the bearings wouldnt have gained any damage

Opinions on possible metal in diff fluid

Just out of curiosity and for future reference, what would a bad output shaft bearing sound like, a grinding noise or a whine type noise? I found some info on a bad input shaft bearing which seems more common but couldn't find any specifics.

Opinions on possible metal in diff fluid

Brand new from Gm and a known shop installed the gears and lsd unit. No clunk or shudders, works perfectly fine without issue. The noise alerted me, the fluid had me wondering. And like I stated earlier no metal shavings or chunks. I took out the speed sensor so I could see the ring gear teeth...

Opinions on possible metal in diff fluid

High pitch, it does change with load. It's loudest at light throttle cruising, on throttle a decent amount or off throttle it gets a lot quieter, almost gone.

Opinions on possible metal in diff fluid

Not sure on how clean it was when I got it, it was a new transaxle that was opened and had a limited slip unit and gears installed. Glad you mentioned the noise, yes mine is the same as you described 40-50 it's the loudest, gear doesn't affect it. Does it most when I'm cruising down the road...

Opinions on possible metal in diff fluid

I recently installed a new manual transaxle in my fwd car. I used Redline 75-90ns. After 2000 miles I dropped the fluid out and installed fresh just bc I've heard this is a recommended process after installing a new unit. I've had some loud whining noise from the transmission, could be normal...

    Metal particles in oil

I've read that the human eye can't see less than 40 microns, I'm just wondering if the particles are only visible because of the presence of light reflecting on them, and without the reflection I wouldn't see them at all.

    Metal particles in oil

The filter I was using is rated at 30 microns so they've got to be smaller than that. I'm going to change the oil and put a synthetic media filter in and see if it clears up on the next short oil change.

    Metal particles in oil

I should have time tomorrow tofilter it. Just out of curiosity how much more filtration will the coffee filter have vs the acdelco oil filter, just wondering because the oil filter did not collect any of these particles bc they were all far too small.

    Metal particles in oil

Yes very similar, I'll describe it to be sure, if I look at some of the oil I caught in a clean container with my bright overhead light or with my flashlight (and both have a different color tint to them) I was able to see it in the oil, just very fine dust / particles floating in the oil, big...

    Metal particles in oil

It's not a dod engine but I'll keep that in mind if I ever get a newer truck that has one, and I'll get some good filters as recommended, thanks for all the info and help everybody
