    Factory Oil Levels

Hi, It was suggested to me that KTM (manufacturers in general) overfill their engines on purpose to keep engine oil temperature lower and to reduce the particles per volume during break-in. Is there any truth in that? Mine came with about 200ml over (per manual specs) and I took it out. Surely...

    2022 MT09

The manual states 600 miles. What stands out to you to say looks like a good engine, if you don’t mind me asking?

    2022 MT09

Hi - My new MT09 had about 450 miles on it and a couple of people commented on the darkness of the oil. I’m sure it was fine but read about Blackstone and thought it would be interesting to send off (great company and service). The report is attached. Regarding the results, am correctly...

    New Oil Color Question?

Hi, Just picked up a new Yamaha MT09 and noticed the oil level was a bit high. I took some out and was a bit surprised it was so dark, it’s only done 50 miles. See photo. Does this look normal to you guys?

    Expansion Tank Level

But if the coolant is at the min level does that impact the ability to cool the engine? As in less coolant in the system?

    Expansion Tank Level

I’m have not got an ounce of engineering knowledge but am an experienced rider. I have a new Tiger 900 and in checking it over saw that from the factory the coolant level was at the min mark. My question is - As it is at the min line, does that mean the cooling would be less effective than if...

    Dreaded Overfill Question?

It has a breather valve to prevent to much pressure build up and would send excess oil to the air box. Was more concerned if the oil was foamy and not providing proper lubrication on a new engine. but I guess if was foamy/whipped enough to do harm I’d see that in the sight glass, right? Like a...

    Dreaded Overfill Question?

no, the oil wasn’t foamy but didn’t know if when the engine stops the foam disappears. I checked it about 20 mins after I turned off the engine and no foam in the sight glass.

    Dreaded Overfill Question?

I just picked up a new Tiger 900. Rode it 60 miles home and while I was looking at my new purchase at home noticed that the oil level in the sight glass was completely full. I don’t think by much, it I tilt the bike say 5 degrees the oil line comes into sight and when the engine runs there is no...

Motorcycle Engine - First start after oil change question?

Thx! Yep, I have a horizontal oil filter which I prime as best I can. If oil is still coating some of the engine and I prime the filter, why does the low oil pressure light come on for a second or two?

Motorcycle Engine - First start after oil change question?

Quick general question if you don't mind for you more engineering-minded people... When changing your oil and oil filter, does the first start-up (dry start) straight after cause any more wear/harm to the engine than a regular engine start? Asking for a [censored] who changed his oil twice...
