Do people park backwards in parking spaces where you live?

Sometimes that happens but if I am not centered I would still back in and then let the people in the lane go before pulling back out to re-align. But that's just me.

In this day and age - are any oil filters terrible?

Probably not. It's pretty crazy you can get perfectly serviceable oil filters for like $3 when some companies are charging $40+ for a cabin air filter.

Do people park backwards in parking spaces where you live?

The waiting thing makes no sense. If you have to back out of a space, someone may have to wait and you may not even know it until you are halfway out, I don't see what difference it makes. I don't like making people wait in general but if they need to sit there for 5-8 seconds for me to back in...

Most braking done by the front wheels?

Was true back in the day but with modern stability control and ABS systems the rears do a lot of the heavy lifting. I want to say pretty much every car I have purchased in the last 15 years or so (about 5-6 including my wife) the rear pads wear before the fronts or at least the same. I just did...

CNN Article on Motor Oil Shortage

I find it hard to believe in four to six months you won't be able to walk into a store and be able to buy something to do an oil change with. So you may need to use a different brand or use 5w20 instead of 0w20, no big deal. Seems people need to constantly try to find things to worry about.

Struggle to commit to a 10,000Km oil change interval

The factory interval is already extremely conservative. This guy just did a UOA on a 37,500 km interval. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/2020-subaru-legacy-2-5l-203-3k-mi-castrol-edge-extended-performance-0w20-23-3k-mi-used-oil-analysis.407207/

Toyota’s stance on using a heavier weight oil

I read it as blending too. If it's not meant to be, it's not worded very well.

    Who makes Ultra8 filters?

They’ve been on backorder for like a hundred years at this point 😕 I did buy it from Altrom. Was either these or Napa Proformer at almost double the cost 😱😆 I have been using this brand for air and cabin filters for a while now.

    Who makes Ultra8 filters?

These were $3.61 at the local parts store. Supposed to be Subaru specific with the higher bypass, and they have a P style gasket too. No idea who makes them...

    ZF8 Aluminum Pan

I noticed my X3M pan is metal while the B58 cars is plastic, not sure the difference really, I guess the M cars have higher power handling versions. I would think the metal one would work fine especially since you're changing the filter (pickup) with it...

Proper use of "They're, there, and their"

It may be harsh, but if someone does not use these correctly I automatically assume they aren't very bright. "Your welcome" gives me a twitch. The other good one is using apostrophes with plurals.

Where to source 90w gear oil?

Just use 80w90. Very slightly thinner when cold which is actually better.

Filter Question for the Subaru nerds... (2026 Crosstrek Wilderness)

I like Premium Guard/EcoGuard options or Hengst H345W. Also Napa Gold 7055 works too (rebranded PG).
