Toyota/Lexus 3.3L V6 Water Inlet (Valley) Plate Coolant Leak

Bumping an old thread... Suspect I have a valley plate leak on an rx330. Anything else I should do while everything is apart? Im thinking plugs and coilpacks (rear bank) but wondering if there are any gaskets or hoses that are worth doing. Sitting at about 120k miles

    Oil filter shelf life

Only 5 years old - I see no problem; even if they were 10 years old and out of the elements.

Anyone try or heard of 'Fuel Doctor' from Australia?

I use it as a fuel stabiliser - seems to do a good job and cost effective

Post Covid-World work life; changes for you, or back to the same?

My employer "mandated" 3 days a week in the office - regardless, barely anyone comes in. I mostly work from home and roll up to the office whenever I feel like it. I have no "team" so there isn't much need for me to come in; and it doesn't make much sense when no one is there anyway. I earn a...

    Lubegard Heavy Duty Gear Protectant

Hi all, I added this product to amsoil syncromesh MTF when changing fluid in my Honda S2000. https://www.lubegard.com/products/heavy-duty-gear-protectant/ The S2000 is tracked and driven hard in the mountains here and there. Over the last season, I have been pushing the car much harder than...

Valve Adjustments - Sooner than you think?

I just spent some time checking the valve clearances on my low hour outdoor power equipment. A GXV160 powered Honda Mower and a GX25 powered blower and trimmer. The mower has an hour meter - it is at a mere 8 hours - The others do not. The point of this thread - All valves were out of spec...

    2005 RX330 3000 miles M1 FS 0w40

Thanks (belated response from me!) - Diff and Transfer case were changed out with 75w90 Amsoil Severe gear. Oil looked in good shape so she's been looked after. Bought it with a harsh transmission shift that 'softened' a little with a complete fluid exchange + filter. Its almost been completely...

Honda S2000 90k miles; 1k Miles on Penrite Racing 10w40

Thats interesting. Are you saying a 10/15w 40 or 50 would be ideal in that case? and that a 5w40 is thinner at temp than a 15w40 for example

Honda S2000 90k miles; 1k Miles on Penrite Racing 10w40

Thanks twx, really appreciate your input. I'm not sure about a 50wt in the s2000, seen a post on another forum that has spoken about cylinder wall scoring with 50wt oil so perhaps an oil cooler is the way forward.

Honda S2000 90k miles; 1k Miles on Penrite Racing 10w40

Hello again, Not many miles (km) on this latest UOA - 924km (mostly track km) and the oil sitting in the pan for about 9 months. Wanted to change early to see if the lead level would come down (which it has). There are some posts out there that mention that redline could 'leach' metals from the...

Do You Ever Keep Up With Your Old Car?

I don't keep track of my old cars, but I try and pick up the old owner of my s2000 once a year.

:O I didn't know that loading each side was a thing. Would this apply to a Honda EU22i?

    Older Toyota Camry Oil Recommendations

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/2005-rx330-3000-miles-m1-fs-0w40.374938/ Heres my UOA - Same engine but in an AWD SUV which would likely place more work on the engine. Make sure you get the timing belt done, if you have not done so already.

Be a stand-up guy and change your filter

I used to sit in the same camp as you. Where I live, filters can be expensive (especially mid to high tier quality) at circa $10-18 USD a pop. On a vehicle that is tracked, I sometimes go 800 miles on an OCI, Depending on its use (usually 1000-2000 miles). After cutting open every filter, I...

    2005 RX330 3000 miles M1 FS 0w40

Thanks Falcon and Triple Se7en - No doubt the new version has been nerfed? Less Zinc? Seems the SN version is still on the shelves in Australia. I'll pick up some more next time it goes on sale.

    2005 RX330 3000 miles M1 FS 0w40

That is interesting - Thank you. There is very little glycol, does that indicate that potassium could be an additive in this instance? I was not intending on obtaining another sample for this vehicle, but may do so based on your comment.

    2005 RX330 3000 miles M1 FS 0w40

Hi All, Here are the results of one of BITOG's favorite oils - M1 0w40 in a Lexus RX330 - Regularly short tripped by my wife (and semi-regularly full-throttled by me). 3000 miles, (5000km) in 8 months. This is a "new" used vehicle; and the purpose of the UOA was to confirm that there were no...
