    Any recommended seal conditioners?

Hello ladies & gents, Long story short. Have a 1986 MB 560SL that was sitting for about 20 years. Got it running again, in great shape. Has a few small oil leaks, nothing catastrophic. I did replace many engine seals but not all, and some are leaking. Are there any recommended conditioner...

    GM 5.3L LS - 175k miles - first UOA - high lead (!)

Thanks for the replies guys. I do not use any additives as LiquiMoly does not recommend it (MolyGen has a complete package of them already). I was in Western Maryland a couple weeks ago and filled in gas there 3 times. I wonder if maybe it was leaded and I didn't realize it?

    GM 5.3L LS - 175k miles - first UOA - high lead (!)

So this was an 8k mile sample with Liqui-Moly Molygen 5w30. The truck has 176k miles on it now, so I'm not surprised its not perfect. High lead usually means bearing wear from what I've been reading, but that's not a common problem on the LS motor, is it? Any input? Thanks, Cyrus

Filter for 2008 Chevy Tahoe 5.3L

Bump for some more questions... 07 Tahoe with the same 5.3L V8 I usually run LiquiMoly Molygen 5W30 or M1 HM 5w30 as much truck has 171k miles. On either of those oils I burn almost no oil! What is the difference between the Fram UG and TG filters? It seems the UG runs up to 20k miles but...

New lifter tick in my GM 5.3L... could it be my oil?

I have two broken on the driver's side, that was leaking, and one on the passenger's. Putting clamps on all of them.

New lifter tick in my GM 5.3L... could it be my oil?

Removing the studs is NOT cheap, but it is the right way to do things. The clamps are working for now, and they're cheap, so I don't mind giving them a try.

New lifter tick in my GM 5.3L... could it be my oil?

Wanted to update this thread and provide some closure. I bought one of those clamps and put it on the front area of the manifold (where one of the broken bolts was, and where I felt the noise was coming from). The ticking was immediately gone on cold start - I've now verified it 5 times. I was...

New lifter tick in my GM 5.3L... could it be my oil?

So it turns out cracked manifold bolts are extremely common on all GM engines of this era - 5.3, 6.0, 6.2 etc. In fact it's so common that companies make a "clamp" to seal the manifold to the block so that you don't have to remove the broken bolts. I am going that route since my truck has 170k...

New lifter tick in my GM 5.3L... could it be my oil?

Well I guess I was wrong fellas. I can't be sure where it's coming from, but I clearly have a missing/broken bolt on either end of the exhaust manifold.

New lifter tick in my GM 5.3L... could it be my oil?

I listened pretty closely and I am 99% sure it is the lifter. So is this nothing to worry about in the GM 5.3L? It goes away once the engine is warmed up, but that can take a few minutes. Am I not causing damage for those few minutes its warming up?

New lifter tick in my GM 5.3L... could it be my oil?

Hello all, I have a 2007 Chevy Tahoe - 5.3L FlexFuel engine with 170k miles on the clock. About 3k miles ago I switched from M1 5w30 High Mileage to LiquiMoly Molygen 5w30. For the past 1-2k miles I've noticed a lifter tick when cold - it does go away once warmed up. I am assuming this is a...

    Just another Kreen believer...

Hah! Sorry about that... I put it on the oil only (1/2 qt). I've used Techron twice through the fuel system so I figure it can't be too dirty. I will put the remaining 1/2qt in the oil once the first 1000 miles passes.

    Just another Kreen believer...

Well I decided to try some Kreen in my 160k-mile 2007 Tahoe. The first owner (who had it the first 120k miles) took good care of the car but the second owner.. not so much. The car was burning about 1 quart of oil every 3k miles (very common with the 5.3L and no big inconvenience), but the real...

    Kreen Question

For what it's worth I recently ordered 1 quart of Kreen (and only that), and I was not charged shipping. It was around $18 to my door.

    Kreen Question

Thank you all for your answers. I am running M1 5w30 HM and it is reasonably thick. I will evaluate my oil at 1k and 3k miles and change if appropriate. For what it's worth, I have also emailed Kano Labs and will post their response in this thread.

    Kreen Question

I was wondering if there was any harm in keeping Kreen in my oil for 5000-6000 miles? The reason being I just changed my oil and my first bottle of Kreen just arrived -- I'm too impatient to wait until I'm closer to my OCI! I understand the Kreen burns off quickly but the carbon deposits will be...

Can someone help read my plugs?

Yes I did change them to new Iridium plugs (NGK), honestly no difference in performance or mileage. Still getting 21mpg highway.
