Chevy 350 making only 3 to 5lbs oil pressure idling when warm.

That is probably because the air core gauge is worn out. You need to check this with a proper gauge, not rely on the old dash gauges that are notorious for breaking after 25+ years. My brother has a 97 K1500 with the 350 and the only reliable gauges left are the speedo and the gas gauge.

    U-haul tow dolly without brakes?

Yes, I can tell you for sure that IL anything over 3K gross requires trailer brakes. And then they have all their wonderful weight limits and requirements that you also have to watch out for as well. There are some exceptions for farm vehicles and the like during planting/harvest season but...

    Quickjack

You can buy the smaller one and get the extensions, which is what I did so I could lift my Camaros and my truck. I also got the pinch weld blocks and the truck supports, which are much taller than the regular blocks that come with it. I've used mine a ton since I bought them about 4 years ago...

1990 F150 with AOD transmission seems to be shuddering

No 1990 vehicle has OBD2, that would be OBD1. Earliest OBD2 functional was started in 94 on very few select vehicles and some 95 vehicles in the California market but none of those vehicles have full OBD2 compliance. 96 was the first year that full OBD2 was required for light passenger cars in...

1997 Silverado trans fluid change advice

I've done fluid changes and a few seal replacements on my brothers 97 K1500 for the 4L60E, has over 250K on it these days. I've used both MaxLife and Supertech Dex/Mec with no issues. As long as its a good Dex/Mec or Dex6 fluid I don't think the fluid will be the issue. Abuse and neglect...

Your Choice for Router in 2023

Hahahahahahahah, reading this just made me bust up laughing in a way I haven't in a LONG time. There is already plenty of good info in this thread so I only really want to add just how good this line is. Made my day.

It's now cheaper to use octane booster than to buy premium gas

Around here its about $.60-.90 depending on the station. If you really wanted to add octane just buy some Xylene/Toulene and add that to your gas. Lot better than those little octane booster bottles that barely raise octane. Still not cheaper than buying premium fuel though. My solution on...

    93' TBI rebuild?

No reason to mess with it unless there is an issue. My 95 Tahoe with the 350 TBI went 250K+ miles before the head gasket finally gave up. Aside from the exhaust rotting away and being replaced with long tube headers and new pipes going back, I only had a do a few simple things like CTS and EGR...

Peak Auto Sales; New Car Sales Are Declining

Yep and for longer times than what should be reasonable. 72-96 month car loans with 8-12% interest rates. Way too much payments in interest, especially since very few people actually pay more than the regular payment every month. When I bought by truck a few years back the salesman and...

    Cybertrucks rust in the rain.

Probably the lowest chromium content possible that Telsa can buy and still call it stainless steel. The lower the chromium in the steel, the more prone it is to rusting. This thing is more of a joke every time I see more information in regard to it. I know Telsa has terrible QC but this is...

Ford Halts Production of F-150 (various models)

I drive an 18 GMC Sierra 1500. Aside from the front end differences and badges, its the exact same truck inside and out. Only reason I bought the GMC was that had the engine I wanted and it was available for a reasonable price. Both are GM trucks and come off the same assembly lines in the end.

    Free charging at work?

They will just add it to the electric bill. The smart meters can detect what devices are plugged in and charge accordingly. Not to mention the car will be registered with the IL DMV. Like I said, there isn't a tax Chicago hasn't liked.

    Free charging at work?

Yep, IL charges more for the tag on EVs but they also want to charge taxes on the electricity used. There is a really good reason why IL mandated the installation of all those smart meters everywhere. There is no such thing as a tax Chicago didn't like.

    Free charging at work?

I wonder how long these free work chargers will last when the states and the electric companies start charging more for EV charging to make up for taxes and fees? IL and Ameren Cilco are already working on both of these things, I can't see companies being willing to give free charging when they...

Looking to convert rear drum brakes to disc brakes on ‘98 Chev K1500 Silverado

If you really want an upgrade for your GMT400 brakes, get rid of the ABS unit and put in a regular proportioning valve. Just did this on a 99 Suburban as the ABS unit was toast and it was causing very hard pedal and limited stopping. After looking into what it cost to get a reman or used ABS...

Fancy cars with no gas in them.

I generally run my vehicles down to only a gallon or so left in them before fill up, especially my truck as I tend to run a mix of 87 octane and E85. But I also never run out of gas while driving either. For some people it seems like paying attention to the gauges doesn't exist.

Credit card lock from shopping at walmart?

Flagged due to security reasons. My guess for more specific reasons would be that the card company doesn't want to use the mag stripe anymore and locks out the card after the 3 tries with the EMV chip. Mag stripe is terrible for security and we should have stopped using it decades ago. Some...

2018 Silverado 5.3 due for a coolant flush - Dexcool alternatives?

Just did a swap on coolant before the winter on my 2018 Sierra as it has been over 5 years on the coolant. Just stick with Dexcool, there is no reason to waste time and money to switch to a different coolant. These engines are not like the ones in the late 90s that suffered from the lower...

    QuickJack hydraulic fluid weight question

It doesn't really matter, any hydraulic fluid or synthetic ATF will work just fine. I used Dex 6 in mine because I still had a few gallons of it laying around from when I did some transmission fluid swaps. From their site...

    08 Sierra Rear Axle Service

A lot of good info, if I'm wrong I'm wrong. I don't mind admitting it. Personally I've never owned any of GM trucks in the 04 years, so maybe the diff locker is different from the GMT400 and the 2018 I currently own. I know that L/S is not required in the GMT400 years, I've owned multiple trucks...
