    BMW 0W12

Might be worth a look - it explicitly says that they work to reduce fuel dilution at high temperatures https://www.motul.com/en-GB/products/59661?product=MOTUL+HYBRID+0W-12 Interesting figures even with a 2.1 hths

Hilarious video on ACEA A3 vs A5 in a Land Rover diesel!

Now he goes off on an oil finding spree and ends up with a CK4 Rotella T6 and enjoys a clicking noise free engine. That click is he's going low on oil pressure, so he might find out if moving to a thicker oil is all that is going to sort his issue, or whether he has an oil seal or pump about...

JASO DH-1 oil for non-emissions diesel tractor

https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/pure-guard/pure-guard-conventional-diesel-motor-oil-15w-40-5-gallon/pgd0/15405 again sort of overpriced for conventional oil. Any old CH4 / CI4 oil with high additives shouldn't do harm to a diesel tractor requiring that spec.

Oxygen sensors failing on 2018 Silverado 3500

    > The code is P2270 -- O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Lean - Bank 1 Sensor 2 Too much oxygen. Or your engine IS running lean due to an exhaust leak between the first and second sensors. I'd check - in sequence 1. Air filter and MAF / oxygen sensors 2. Injectors (clean or replace) 3. Exhaust...

What do do with 5 quarts of 0W-16?

If it were 5w30 you could fry fish in it.

What do do with 5 quarts of 0W-16?

It is funny, there's this old thread that went through much the same arguments for 0w20 a good few years back. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/hths-question-high-vs-low.81764/

What do do with 5 quarts of 0W-16?

I have a feeling they've bench tested those engines on 0w8 / 0w16 for some hundreds of thousands of hours by now, and also have real world data from cars being driven around with that in their oil sumps. Sure, we can all wait but I'm reasonably sure Toyota already has that information, and...

What do do with 5 quarts of 0W-16?

For your Toyota? It won't do the engine any harm given that Toyota has specced 0w16 for that engine. Use it and change it a bit early if you like. Why waste the oil once you bought it? The engine isn't made of cheese that it is going to fall apart if you use an oil that was specced for it...

7.3 powerstroke conventional oil to synthetic?

I’m running a supported ck4 (castrol crb 10w30) instead of what they usually recommend in India which is 5w30 a5b5 whether for their small hatchbacks or for a 3.2 liter endeavour aka ranger. Works beautifully, rather better than a thin 5w30.

7.3 powerstroke conventional oil to synthetic?

There are a number of ck4s they certify for their 171 spec. https://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.com/additionalinfo/dieseloilsWSSM2C171F1.PDF

    In 1988---

Over fueling or in other cases, over filling with engine oil yeah. On a similar / unrelated note, a service center had overfilled engine oil so it soaked the oil separator in a turbo + intercooler crdi 2.2 diesel in an earlier car, and it caused blowby through the dipstick hole, significant...

    In 1988---

Valve stem seals or piston rings .. blue smoke is typically engine oil making it into the cylinders or on the hot exhaust manifold / ports in the cylinder head. Might be at a very early stage in which case you’d only see this during load. On the balance I’d say your valve stem seals need a...

My rear brake fiasco (dealership, I know)

a used and worn out brake pad is quite visible to the naked eye compared to a new one.

My rear brake fiasco (dealership, I know)

A bad fitment of brake pads might do this - or using non oem pads that aren’t a 100% fit to an oem rotor. If not that then some grit or other foreign body between the pads and rotor - but in a newly fitted pad and rotor set?

Change diesel oil based on emission factors?

Some very good oils there in particular Mobil Delvac and Castrol CRB / Vecton. And yeah, more than one CK4 in the list.

Change diesel oil based on emission factors?

WSS-M2C171-F1 is what you're referring to. Quite a few engine oils that meet that spec, including CK4 rated ones. They apparently had an issue with low phosphorus in some CK4/SN formulations, and said CJ4 was ok till then. They seem to have updated that advice given the number of CK4 oils...

Change diesel oil based on emission factors?

Yeah about any CK4 single rated might be a better idea than a SN/SP and CK4 dual rating. Ford for example seems intent that you only use single rated not dual rated, and their motorcraft is straight CK4.

Ford endeavour (aka ranger) power steering electrical issues

The main culprit I can think of is an abs sensor fitted to one of the wheels - just in the right sort of place for a connecting wire to fray or get damaged by moisture and cause all of this. Every service center is maxed out with cars and staff on holiday so the car’s parked till after the new...

Ford endeavour (aka ranger) power steering electrical issues

There’s also a U0415-68 (abs module again but related to the park pilot) that turned up when I scanned using another scan tool and forscan which is a ford specific third party scanner. The usual culprits are a bad wheel speed sensor (or broken / rubbed through wiring to them), or a wiring...
