Are we over exaggerating the perfect ATF fluid level? thermal expansion seems to think we are

I think it’s all relative to the capacity of the unit and what kind of fluid. Some of the D6 dozers we have hold about 40 gallons or so of 30 wt trans oil. The difference between ‘hot add’ and ‘hot full’ is about 10 gallons.

Are we over exaggerating the perfect ATF fluid level? thermal expansion seems to think we are

I’ve read about several cases of the 10r80 in Mustangs causing erratic shifting behavior. The 10r80 in a friends F150 was about 1/2 quart low at full operating temperature, although it didn’t seem to cause any problems. Regarding the fluid quantity between cold and hot, I was only able to...

Why I won't be using Rain-X All-Season washer fluid anymore

Wow this is news to me. I’ve used the orange Rain-X religiously for the last 4 years in my F150 and never seen or heard of this now.

how to lower hydrocarbons for emissions test ?

You may just need a new cat due simply to the age of the car. For what it’s worth… I’ve used denatured alcohol in a few cars that had issues passing emission testing and it worked for me. In my own experiences I would add 1/2 gallon or so to 1/4 tank of fuel, take the vehicle out and run it...

This is exactly what I thought, just wanted to be sure. Thanks to all who replied!

Add Lubegard red at every fluid change ?

I had considered using the platinum, but I’ve only used the red before.

Add Lubegard red at every fluid change ?

I’ve done partial fluid changes in my 10r80 every 30k on my F150 using a battery operated fluid pump to empty the pan. Usually pull out somewhere between 5-6 qts. Total capacity is about 13 qts. At 30k I drained and filled. No additives At 60k I drained and filled and added the whole 10oz...

    Trained House Cats

A friend has a cat that will play fetch with rubber bands or hair ties. I can sling shot it across the room and that cat will grab it and bring it back every time. I’ve never seen a cat do that before

2018 F150 rear pinion seal install question

The flange, and seal were OE but I reused the nut because it had the paint marks on it. I’m thinking it’s probably fine. The 18-20’s seems to leak a lot! A coworkers 2020 started leaking before 15k. I replaced my 2019 at 40k. The truck in question belongs to a good friend of mine, and his only...

2018 F150 rear pinion seal install question

What’s weird is the last 5 of these seals I’ve done on 9.75’s and super 8.8’s ( they use the same seal and flange) I used the same impact for all these jobs, my truck included, and never had a problem to get that mark lined up plus a little bit more. I installed new flanges on all these trucks...

2018 F150 rear pinion seal install question

vehicle in question has a Ford 9.75 rear axle. Replaced pinion seal, and flange due to leakage and a small wear scar on the flange. Marked the nut to pinion with 2 different color markers, but upon tightening of the nut I couldn’t get the nut to line up with the marks. They are about 1/4 inch...

Soft shock recremendations for a two wheel drive 2002 f150 single cab.

Monroe shocks have always seemed like they were a bit soft to me. Get the last 8 of the vin and call your local Ford dealer and see if you can still get oem shocks. They will probably ride the best.

Tire size choice for 8" wide rims (Ford Expedition)

That chart above seems really off. The factory wheels on my 2019 F150 are 20x8.5 and come with 275’s and you can easily fit a wider tire on there without issue. My other set of Fuel wheels are 20x9 and have 295’s on them. Many people run 305’s on a 9 inch rim as well.

    Ford/international fiasco

Those 6.4’s can be so hit and miss. You rarely see one on the road today that isn’t deleted. I know a guy who still runs one with 350k on it but it was deleted very early in its life. I believe he runs H&S tuning with very little additional power. Has had very little work done to it. Original...

Cummins to recall 600,000 trucks for emissions cheating

I can imagine there will be a bunch of owners who will refuse to take their trucks in for the reflash unless they are forced to.

High miles with no Coolant / ATF or other maintenance

For a 150k mile car that has been DIY maintained you run the risk of the atf, ps, coolant, etc being all original. The owner may have done this to save money and keep ownership costs to a minimum. I have met several people who say “ the trans shifts fine, why would I service it” A dealer...

    Tire Dismount / Re-Mount Prices - Ugh!

About 5 years ago I stopped by a place in Chantilly Va called Main Street Tire and Auto to see what it would cost to have 4 tires mounted and balanced on my wife’s Tundra. I had 4 new LTX’s in the bed of the truck. They quoted something crazy like 280 dollars and that included an 100$ or so...

    Ford 10R80 - TSB - Help

My 2019 F150 shifts wonky when it’s cold. But I’m tuned and have the skip shifting tuned off. One thing I’ve noticed if I back in the driveway it sometimes will have a very flared 1-2 shift like I knocked the shifter into neutral. However, if I pull into the driveway and have to back out, it...

Parasitic draw test.. am I doing this right ? ( pics )

Agree 100% I drive the car a lot more when it’s warmer but during deer season I tend to let it sit. Any accident would likely total the car. I bought myself a Noco genius 5 amp charger to replace my old diehard 3 amp smart charger. The Noco has a battery repair option which I used the other...

Parasitic draw test.. am I doing this right ? ( pics )

Haha that was one of the first videos I watched. His meter is a bit different than mine. I was just unsure if I was using the meter correctly.
