I leave tonight at 9pm for my 8,000 miles road trip. My Oil Life Monitor says I still have 60% oil life left. So, that made me not want to change my oil before this trip. I currently have exactly 5,000 miles on this oil so far and my road trip will be about 8,000 miles. So, I may be at about...

How far over the MAX oil fill mark...

If it is barely above the maximum line, I will not worry about it. Besides, I am sure you do burn some oil before your next oil change, so it will drop to the normal level after a few thousand miles. Just keep on driving.

Change my oil Before or After road trip?

You know all of us on the forum "over maintain" our cars. And you know this is a Honda. So, I expect it to be a bit more reliable and dependable even with some abuse and neglect. Though I do not plan to abuse or neglect this car. Also, this car is my road trip car that I have used to visit...

Change my oil Before or After road trip?

My first oil change on this car was done at exactly 12,034. Here is the UOA from Blackstone. This oil did not see a long road trip of 7,500 miles. So, it had more city miles than highway miles. Since I could do 12,000 miles, that is why I was thinking of doing 12,000 miles again, especially as...

Change my oil Before or After road trip?

When I return home from this trip, I will change the oil no matter if I change it before I leave for the trip or not. So, I was wondering if it was a waste of oil to change it now when I will change it again after 26 days. It is not often people do an oil change after 26 days. Since the trip is...

    0W16 + 0W20 = 0W18? Mixing 2 qts Castrol 0W20 with 2 qts Toyota 0W16!

When I hypermile, which I do often, my mileage is 55mpg to 66mpg. The only oil I will use in my car is the oil I will buy at the store for $2 a quart or less. I don't plan to run anything thinner thaN 0w16. I just feel I have no problem mixing oil just because I want to. I do have a stash of oil now that each cost me $2 a quart. My 2020 Hybrid calls for 0W20, but the sale oil I bought is a lot of 0W16 and some 10W30. My next oil change will be; 2...

But what do you consider overinflated? I personally do not like to put too much air in my tires. But to be very specific, the current tires on my car now has maximum psi on the sidewall as 51psi. So, I am sure that means the manufacturer is saying if that tire is filled up to 51psi "cold",it is...

Wayne Gerdes' advice on psi for serious hypermiling; "MAX sidewall is what I would recommend for most as it is well within the safety limits of your car and tire and allows better Fuel Economy than the pressure listed in the driver’s side door." I don't know what you guys think about this.

I guess driving in the city where highest posted speed may be 45mph is different from when you get on the freeway with posted speeds of 65mph or 70mph. I am guessing maintaining both speed limits would yield higher mpg in the city than on the highway.
