2013 Hyundai Elantra GT 1.8L Piston slap?

Unfortunately rod knock is common in these cars, poor metal quality and machining from Hyundai. If it were me I would get rid of that car while it still runs and has some value. In the mean time use a thicker synthetic high mileage oil.

I get all the good ones......

Clinebarger you're one [censored] of a mechanic, solid diagnostic skills! If I had a mechanic like your near by I wouldn't hesitate to bring my car over. My 1.8 09 corolla makes this terrible grindy noise occasionally on cold start it's been driving me nuts wish I knew someone with your skill to...

Valve Stem Carbon Build-up from Oil in DI Engines

I've had great success with a catch can on the pcv side and a small maintenance dose of Lucas top end lube mixed with tc-w3 at every fill up. Once a year I'll add some redline si1 or some other high pea cleaner like Techron or regane. During the winter I add some Lucas ethanol shield since I...

    10,000mi OCI for a 2020 4Runner?

I wouldn't mind doing it every 5K at all which would be about once a year, just trying to justify a 10k cycle which would push 2 years, although 2 years seems quite long. It's 10k miles or 1 year which ever comes first as stated in the owners manual. 2 years on the same oil is way too long to...

TC-W3 Oil add to fuel in vehicle

I've been using tc-w3 for a little over a year now in both my vehicles, a 09 corolla and 15 rx 350 as well as an old snowblower. After reading through this thread I decided to remove the spark plug from my snowblower and have a look at the piston. The plug was very dirty, completely black, but...

06 vw rabbit filter, guess the mileage

It could be original since the car looked to be neglected. I forgot to look for a manufactre date but it was almost completely black with dirt so I doubt it would still be visible. This filter was nasty there was more dirt on it but when I removed the access panel and as I had to pull the filter...

Different media types for disposable filters, whats best??

A look on rock auto shows a variety of paper, cellulose and sythetic media available for disposable engine air filters. What would be the most efficient at filtration?

Terrible experience at Lexus service, here's my rant

Did you use the butt dyno or did you actually measure the temperature before and after and also keep track of ambient temperature both times? I used an old vent thermostat I had in the garage so if you want to get scientific not sure it'll be up to your standards, I'll go with my 100 %...

Terrible experience at Lexus service, here's my rant

Nothing crazy, it's just a little bit colder. Maybe a few degrees however, it got colder faster stayed cold and less engagement of the compressor. I could set it at 70 and be comfortable. I'd assume if you lived somewhere like Phoenix it would be worthwhile to try it atleast

Terrible experience at Lexus service, here's my rant

Alright guys let me clarify I am fully aware regular strap clamps will eat into hoses especially silicone.so all except one are high quality smoth i.d and will not damage hoses. I did not put hardware store clamps on this car. I had installed them since the oem clamps on the pcv hoses were...

Terrible experience at Lexus service, here's my rant

Yea I understand, I just put everything back to avoid any hassle while under warranty. Just weird that I also have a heavily modded Toyota and never once received negative comments from my Toyota dealer and even had warranty work done with no hassles
