Canada: Are EFB batteries not readily available locally? Is AGM equivalent?

Just reviewing the manual for Odyssey : https://www.enersys.com/49bbe0/globalassets/documents/product-documentation/odyssey/_multi/amer/odyssey-installation-operation-and-maintenance-manual.pdf "• Do not charge batteries if the temperature is above 104°F (40°C)." ... and considering some...

Canada: Are EFB batteries not readily available locally? Is AGM equivalent?

Most of the AGM battery specs I've seen specify a temperature max of 60C. I would not want it under the hood if I could avoid it.

2019 Malibu - Drain & FIll or Flush on CVT?

If you're going to pay a dealer to do the service then I would follow their recommendation (good or bad). If you don't agree with their decision then find someone else. If the fluid hasn't been changed before now then most of the wear damage has already been done. I would do three drains now...

How often does PTU fluid actually need to be changed? 2015 Honda CRV AWD

Are there magnets on the drain plugs? ... are there drain plugs?!? I would definitely do three drains on those units and then again after a year. Add magnets if you can.

How many drain and fills should I be doing during a transmission fluid change?

Thanks for the update. Let us know how it goes after some more miles on it. If you really want to know then find a lab to test the fluid, do one now and then follow their lead. Otherwise, check your manual and follow the "Severe" service recommendations.

Valvoline Restore and Protect in Toyota Prius with 291K miles

I'm 1/3 into my 2nd OCI (10k km, 6k miles) of VRP and the oil level is bang on. Will try to check it again at the 2/3 mark. So far so good. 2010 Nissan Cube, MR18DE, 234k kms / 145k miles

    Ford 6R80 transmission fluid changes

I've used Valvoline MaxLife ATF is dozens of transmissions over the decades and have experienced no issues of concern. In the 2014 F150 I used a generic brand Multi-ATF from Canadian Tire (Motomaster, made by Shell I think?) and did five drain & fills after pulling the pan and cleaning the...

    Ford 6R80 transmission fluid changes

Same here in Canada. MaxLife is good stuff but I wish we could get Restore & Protect instead.

100K service on the 2011 Sentra and questioning my life choices

Thanks for the write up, I have an 2010 MR18DE with 140k that could use some work soon. So far it's running well on OE sparkplugs and it's 2nd OCI of Valvoline Restore and Protect. Fingers crossed.

    Ford 6R80 transmission fluid changes

OEM fluid is absolutely NOT required or desirable unless it is a "buy it now" deal. The transmissions are sensitive to fluid that is dirty, worn and overheated, not to the brand / label. Keep those magnets clean and monitor your temperatures.

    Ford 6R80 transmission fluid changes

We have a similar transmission on a 2014 F150. Did you check for service bulletins and have you had the pan off for cleaning? The magnets do most of the important filtering and Ford added extra magnets because of the trouble they were having. Regardless of how many magnets are in the...

Transmission fluid interval 2019 Corolla will dump and replace cause damage at 22,000?

A slow-change would be to do a drain & fill at each engine oil change. For some people that's once a year. Regardless, you should drop the pan for inspection and cleaning the magnets. The magnets do the majority of the important filtering and they loose effectiveness as they load up.

    Briggs & Stratton Tire Sealant

Stallion has a several products for ATV, Aircraft and road vehicles. So far I'm satisfied with the product I used (Phantom Farm). https://www.stallionmfg.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/STALLION-VERTICALS-2025-2-large-2.pdf https://www.stallionmfg.com/stallion-advantage/

    Briggs & Stratton Tire Sealant

That sounds similar to what I just tried. Stallion, Phantom Farm Ballast https://www.stallionmfg.com/phantom-farm-ballast/ Does not cure, harden or freeze. I bought it for a cheap tire on a tractor cart that was cracked all over the tread (dry rot). I only noticed after I tried using it that...

Too late for a CVT fluid change? 155k Honda CR-V 2015

It wouldn't really make a difference either way. We're assuming it's a stock vehicle operating within it's intended application.

Too late for a CVT fluid change? 155k Honda CR-V 2015

Does it have a removable transmission pan? If so, I'd start by dropping it to clean and inspect the magnets. After refilling I'd test drive long enough to warm up the fluid then do a drain & fill. After that, drain & fill at each engine oil change until it looks clean / clear. Drop the pan to...

Valvoline CVTF in Subaru CVTF-III Application? (2021 Outback 2.5 NA)

Any quality aftermarket CVTF will be superior to the OEM fluid, it has to be as it can support so many more / demanding applications than just the one OE spec. If you want to pay a premium price for a premium fluid then I'd suggest contacting Red Line, Amsoil and HPL, I think they're priced...

New Mobil 1 Advanced Clean vs. Valvoline Restore and Protect

I'm using Amsoil CVT in our 2010 Nissan / JATCO but I've also had good results with Valvoline MaxLife ATF and other "generic" brands. The greatest concern with a CVT is keeping the fluid clean and your TCU firmware up to date. To keep the fluid clean you NEED to clean / check the magnets...

Android unregistered 3rd party apps a thing of the past very soon.

My previous phone choice was Samsung Galaxy S7 (currently using) and there was a fairly good build of Lineage OS for it but that dried up last year. My current pick is the S10e (same size, bigger screen, etc) but I haven't found a "good" OS for it yet. Currently looking into /e/OS (terrible...
