    2-cycle mix ratios

The EPA outlawed 2 strokes in walk behinds around 2003. I still use three Toro (Suzuki engines) self-propelled that are two strokes quite heavily during mowing season in my small lawn-care business. I'm now using Stihl HP-Ultra since some engine service a couple of years ago mixed around 40:1...

Marine oil in a passenger car engine

I've always thought the difference between marine and automobile oils besides corrosion additives is that marine oils are blended with beefier anti-foam additives. Marine engines typically operate at higher rpms for extended periods of time compared to automobile engines so they require...

HF Charger barely lasted a year

I'd take it back and complain. It doesn't need to be to a manager, the associate will find him/her. You might be surprised. I shop several HF stores and they've all been more than fair to me. BTW-I have no business association with HF!

Any owner of a 2013 or 2014 Focus with the shuddering automatic transmission can explain how Ford will cut warranty costs!

Starter Tool set - hand tools for professional work?

Harbor Freight has a dandy 30% off coupon this weekend on tools under ten dollars. it's good for up to nine items, but I've seen them ignore that limit in the past. It might help him get a start with some small stuff. The coupon is here or on their website. PS, don't forget the freebie coupons.

Do high beams make you angry?

Probably most high beam runners aren't aware they are on bright, quite possibly because they were on bright when they put the vehicle away the last time they drove it. Of course you could argue the common courtesy aspect, but "whatever"! Don't know why manufacturers don't build in an...

    ATF Change Process?

Does it have a drain plug on the pan AND a dipstick? Our 2006 Corolla S does. BE SURE YOU HAVE A DIPSTICK TO FILL THROUGH. If so, rejoice it has both and pull the plug. Refill what you took out. Drive a couple hundred miles. Rejoice it is there. Repeat process. Our 2014 RAV4 has no dipstick...

Walmart Gear Lube in Rear Diff

FWIW, drained the transaxle in my high hours John Deere 216 (vintage) lawn tractor and refilled it with ST 75-90 gear lube. Had a small leak before the drain/refill. Leak stopped!

    Why does Toyota recommend 0W-20?

I see you live in Wisconsin. I live in central Nebraska. Our winters are often similar. Actual outdoor temps can easily fall to -10º and stay there for a week. I've seen -35º, but not as often in more recent times. We bought a 2014 RAV4 from our daughter's family when the number of kids grew...

I was always skeptical until now

FWIW, I know of several businesses that collect and stockpile used motor oil and burn it for heat during winter months.

    D156 or Griots?

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I love D156 as well. One question: Do you have trouble with it plugging up your pump spayer? I've tried several different types of sprayers and they all need a good shakes after a few pumps to get them going again.

    Water spot remover

This works great on fiberglass, even black colors. Don't know why it wouldn't work on a cool car in the shade.

Shield Choice in 06 Camry 100,000 miles

I used Choice 5w30 (called "Tropartic" when we bought the car new in 2006) in our daughter's Corolla and didn't use a drop of oil in 200,000+ miles when we sold it to an extended family member. OCI of 2,500 miles or so with Purolator Classic filters. Continue to use/replenish my stash of...

Had a pair of Genie screw drive openers in the late 1970s. Kept the house 15 years. They lasted as long as I had the house.

Same here in many cases. Will probably never allow someone else to do oil/filter changes.
