    using oil with GC

Check/replace your PCV. Don't do the "shake-n-rattle test", but replace it. If it's stuck open or not shutting in cycles like it should, it would lead to excessive oil consumption. I am betting at 80k miles it went south on you. I replace mine every 25k for cheap insurance, they're like $2 a...

I"ve had it with SUV Drivers!!!!!

I am a guilty, nasty SUV owner. I watched this same line of conversation over on the "Click and Clack" message boards. Amusing to see that sedan drivers still think they own the road with impunity. At any rate, I keep a compact SUV on the road, and an AWD Scooby - and pass *PLENTY* of SUV and...

    Exciting New Engine Technology

Here is something I stumbled across when gathering clues about making my own gas turbine motors. It is possible that the claim of this engine technology using minimum oil to no oil by using foil bearings: http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/Oilfree/bearings.htm Food for thought!

List of vehicles/engines GC has been used in.

'95 Chevy Blazer w/4.3 CPI engine with 147k on the odometer. Zero leaks, zero consumption, perfectly clean under the valve covers. She runs like buttered silk on the stuff and idles very quiet. I have to glance at the Tachometer at stops to make sure she is still ticking over.

    Gas milage with GC

I kid you not - I was capable of balancing a nickel on the front bumper of my Blazer running GC. It was a grueling wait, getting to the end of a 3500 mile OCI and resolving fuel injection problems before I dumped the elves in. Fixed the truck, drained the old oil out and poked the elves in. She...

You've all turned me into a Green freak...

Normally I would say something pithy, But I am sure now that you need pity. Your wife only sampled the deep seated madness- That makes you line up quarts and liters to strained excess. For know The now that you have fallen into hysteria- ...amongst the best of company and the best from Bavaria...

Do you feel compelled to organize your GC by mfg date?

Yep. All of my elves are neat, in a row, sorted oldest to the front and right for a fast grab and fill. Newer stock and full, fresh cases are to the back and left. In the waaaaay front is a fresh oil filter and a roll of teflon tape and a Fram Suredrain plug. Going to be getting it all in and...

1/2 qt of black oil on the driveway

When you disconnect the PCV, the system is no longer under vacuum. This will cause oil to leak from areas where the seals were sucking in air from the vacuum when the oil pooled up behind them. It is quite possible the leak's coming from a valve cover or another area of the engine where a closed...

What's the difference between Gold GC & Green GC?

Your efforts here really do shine For the pleasure of such persuits is all mine, Though cut us a break - And for everyone's sake Do realize the gold instead of green is just fine. Pscholte's muse comes by and whispers in my ear at times too - seems we have a similar madness that we share...

    M05 green in color

I meant that of course in a figurative sense, but now that you mention it - I wonder what would happen if I marinated myself in it? Would I live as long as my engine? *laugh* BTW - hit the 5 regional stores after this week's stock arrived. Loads of M057 stock, the rare older bottle of "Yellow...

    M05 green in color

Well, I can attest to there being green out there in M051 batches. All that you see here was scarfed up today, all of it M051 lot numbers. At one AZ, I scored a factory original M501 full case by going behind the display! I just picked it up off the rack after casually walking behind it. There...

    M05 green in color

Oh, I am worried now. I just hugged and rubbed each bottle with a diaper, sorted it into a slot on the shelf according to date. (Older oil to the right to be used first) And then, I just sat back - *looking* at all of it as if expecting something magical to happen. I am TWISTED, I KNOW this for...

    M05 green in color

Ditto here - went around town all through my lunch break and after work, over 100 miles rount trip and scored more than half of the bottles at being M051 "green". All told, found 21 quarts of all green today alone. *Muahahahaha* Left the older "Yellow label" stuff on the shelves and rummaged...

    Another response from Fram

Cut open a standard Fram filter, do the same with one of their XG (Extended Guard) filters, and compare them both to a third OEM filter. In my case, Fram XG3980 is the part to replace my usual AC-Delco PF52 filter, and of course, the standard Fram's going to be plain old 3980. No comparison at...
