Can Mobil 1 EP really go 15,000 mi?

I just put in Mobil 1 EP in our RAV4. Opinions.....Will I be safe going 10,000 miles on this oil?

If you got sucked into the SilverStar hype...

I've been using SilverStars for years. I noticed a huge difference, thus I do not believe it is "all hype". For me, they give much improved nighttime vision. What made me try them originally was the white light. I don't like the dirty yellow light of traditional headlights. I HATE any...

    Bosch Filtech /Honda A01

The Honda A01 is not discontinued. Honda always has more than one supplier for parts, so you just don't know what your local dealer will get in. A and H says that they are only selling the A01 currently. But I don't like the dinky size of the "newer" filters as compared to the first several...

Mobil 1 0w20 AFE vs EP

I just noticed that Mobil 1 is available in 0w20 EP. How does it compare to the AFE version? I've been using Mobil 1 0w20 AFE in my wife's 2009 RAV4. Have been changing it every 5000 miles. Until now....Changed the oil right before we drove from Ohio down to Florida Keys in August. Life happened...

    Subaru engine reliability?

We currently own a Honda (1997 CRV 305,000 miles) and a Toyota (2009 RAV 80,000 mi). Both purchased new. But I am well aware that both brands have had their issues. The gen 1 Pilot had transmission issues. Toyota had a Head Gasket Special Service Campaign on early 90's 4Runners because the HG...

Pirelli Scorpion ATR vs Yokohama Geolander A/T-S

Reporting back after 20,000 miles. I got the Pirelli Scorpion ATR's!!! They are....amazing! I LOVE them. They totally changed the driving characteristics of the CRV. The ATR's have a very stiff sidewall, causing the CRV to be a lot more fun when cornering. The grip in all conditions is great...

Pirelli Scorpion ATR vs Yokohama Geolander A/T-S

Thanks for the input. The Pirelli Scorpion ATR receives very mixed reviews. Most of the bad reviews come from Ford truck owners, where it came as OEM. I've come to realize that the OEM version of a tire can be different from the same tire sold as aftermarket. The Bridgestones that came on our...

Pirelli Scorpion ATR vs Yokohama Geolander A/T-S

My favorite tire (Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza) is no longer being made in my size. So the search is on. I've narrowed it to Pirelli Scorpion ATR & Yokohama Geolander A/T-S. I've read so many conflicting reviews...I don't know what to think. I want decent wet traction, decent snow traction...

    Mobil 1 HM 5W-30 vs. Mobil 1 5W-30

I wanted to report back after running Mobil 1 HM 5w-30 for over a year. Prior to switching: I was never in the good habit of checking oil levels often, because I never had a vehicle that consumed oil. This CRV had never consumed oil, until it did I'm embarrassed to say that it was down more...

    Best/Favorite store brand oil/filter?

I don't use store brand filters. I personally don't like any of them. The little money saved is not worth it.

    Mobil 1 0w20 vs Mobil 1 5w20

So Mobil 1 0W20 year around? Besides being better in very cold temperatures, are there any other benefits of using Mobil 1 0W20 (instead of 5w20)? Is Mobil 1 0W20 a better oil than Mobil 1 5W20? We keep our vehicles a long time (Currently have a 1997 CRV purchased new that now has 262,000...

    Mobil 1 0w20 vs Mobil 1 5w20

I've been using Mobil 1 5w20 in my wife's 2009 RAV4 Sport I4 since new. It now has 43,000 miles. The manual and oil cap recommend both 5w20 and 0w20. Should I be using 0w20 during the Winter? (Northern Ohio) Is one better overall than the other? They both seem to be the same price. For...

how good is 15w40 in the cold

VW wanted 15W-40 in their early-mid 80's Golf/Jettas all year. The chart showed it good down to about -20F. Said to use 10W40 if in arctic circle. You can not generalize about oil viscosity. Every engine is different.
