I use Castrol GTX HD 30wt in my mower and 4cycle trimmer. My dad used it for like 20 some years in his equipment. Its about $4.50/qt @ Walmart. I agree with others use whatever is cheaper. The engine wont know the difference.

I would like to know more about this oil too. I run it in my high comp. aftermarket turbo BRZ. Does fine as far as I can tell. No noticeable consumption @ 1.5k miles.

You should definitely swap to a 40wt on track though, maybe 50wt if summer. Castrol makes a 5w-50.

The problem is the consumer wants massive low end torque vs. a great top end. Be like me and put on a larger and somewhat laggier turbo and not have to worry since I have no boost under 3k in most gears...

I never notice much difference here in Florida. Maybe we don't get it down here since its almost never below 40F.

While your tuner has me beat in number of tuned FA20's 1,000 to 0, I would love to hear more details on why he (or anyone here!) thinks this. There are/were people that thought the EJ's AVCS wouldn't function properly with 40 grade oil. Meanwhile, the N. American owner's manuals allowed up to 50...

Noticed this too today when buying oil. I wonder if this is reason they dropped Ca for more Mg.
