    Quirky features on your cars?

My Regal doesn't have an interior trunk release ANYWHERE. The only way to open the trunk is using the fob or the touch pad on the trunk itself. It's REALLY annoying when you don't have the keys on hand.

What are you working on today?

Sealed our little trailer with Thompson transparent stain/water sealer to protect it from the elements. Aired up the tires to the proper 90 PSI and greased the hubs. Oil change for our 02 Grand Cherokee with the 4.7. 174k miles. Supertech 5w30 synthetic and a Fram Titanium that had 2 rounds on...

2012 Buick Regal 2.0: Timing chain time

It's FWD, they didn't offer AWD until 2014 unfortunately. To be honest, I really don't drive the car very hard. It seems maybe one WOT run a week if that. If I DO get on it, 1st and 2nd will break the tires loose easily. The key is to kind of roll into the boost to about 15-20 miles an hour...

Any reason NOT to go with Aisin TKT024 vs OEM Toyota?

I installed Aisin kits in every J series Honda engine I touched, and never had an issue. In fact, I used Aisin for just about everything, if it was available for the application.

2012 Buick Regal 2.0: Timing chain time

I never got to do just the chains back when I worked at a shop. My customers just rattled them to death and then junked the car or put in a crate motor. Usually Equinox's.

2012 Buick Regal 2.0: Timing chain time

Actually, nothing other than seeing other people's chains at the same mileage. I have no history on this car and plan to keep it a long time, so I pulled the valve cover to inspect and found significant slack in the chain. Not enough to cause a rattle or set timing codes (yet), but it was ready...

2012 Buick Regal 2.0: Timing chain time

Thanks! It's an absolute blast to drive yet still incredibly comfortable to commute with. Handling is really it's specialty, though. With the suspension in GS mode it drives like it's on rails.

2012 Buick Regal 2.0: Timing chain time

It took me ~ 3 hours to do the timing components. Book time is 5.7. Access is REALLY good on this car. All that needs to come off is the valve cover, balancer, belt tensioner and idler pulley, and the timing cover itself. I also replaced the VVT solenoids with OEM units while I was at it...

2012 Buick Regal 2.0: Timing chain time

I dug into my Regal today to perform some major repairs: timing set, vacuum pump, and transmission fluid change. I know everyone loves pictures, so here goes: Plugs with ~8k miles Old timing components: New balance shaft components installed: New timing components with ZZP upgraded main...

    Who played FSRN (Fisker Inc.)?

I might buy back in with some of the profits. I'm going to watch for now

    Who played FSRN (Fisker Inc.)?

Fisker Automotive stock. I thought the EV forum would be most appropriate.

    Who played FSRN (Fisker Inc.)?

I picked up 20k shares 4/15 at market open for .03, held a bit too long but sold yesterday just before noon yesterday at .065 for a nice little $666.18 profit. Not huge numbers, of course, but I played with what I was comfortable losing and ended up winning a little. Did anyone else here dabble?

    4L80E TCC Not Locking

Amazon I have this exact dongle, and it works flawlessly. It's basically OE level with my GM vehicles. It should do everything you need it to do.

    First HPL order arrived!

Complete useless post, just wanted to share my excitement in receiving my first ever order from HPL: 6 quarts of 75w90 cold climate that should be enough for 2 changes in my Regal's transmission, and a quart of the 30 weight engine cleaner. That'll be going in after I get the timing chain...

Not a great conversation with my local Infiniti dealer today. Least they were honest.

eBay If you want to give reman a try, here's one for under $600. Even cheaper... There's another one if you're REALLY feeling frisky!

    Tax prep woes ...

I used a CPA for the first time this year. Between switching jobs, moving to a different state, cashing out some 401k funds etc. I didn't want to screw things up. Worked out OK for me: $348 owed to the feds, $18 owed to the state of WI, $346 refund from the state of MN. Just about as close to...

What are you working on today?

Noticed the battery terminals on our Kia were getting a little crusty, and once I peeked at the date code I knew why: C4! Napa Legend battery, so that should be March 2014. Unreal battery life for the Midwest. Quick hop to Walmart and she now has a shiny new Everstart Max with cleaned and sealed...

John Deere LVA16054 hydro filter, 1025R

You're doing hydro service exactly the way we recommend at my dealer. 50 hours first, then every 200 after that on the 1025's. I know the fill cap/specs call for low-vis in the 1025, but we use the regular Hy-Gard. The only thing we use the low-vis in is residential mowers.

    Strongest fuel cleaner

That gen Nissan ANYTHING will need injectors at this point. Those side-feed units weren't great back then, and they're probably just about used up at this point.

What are you working on today?

Just finished installing new tunes in our '06 Spectra. The original speakers were either dead (rear deck) or completely shot (front doors), so it got 2 pair of Infinity REF-6532ex's. I needed shallow speakers due to clearance issues on this application, and these fit the bill perfectly both in...
