Kirkland Signature now available in single quart 12 packs API SP

Looking between this (Kirkland) 0W-20 and the Idemitsu 0W-20. Both are SP, Kirkland is much cheaper. Noticed the Kirkland one refers you to Warren for data sheet, and the Warren one is MAG1 oil... the MAG1 if identical to Kirkland has a higher VI but also worse Noack (13%) compared to the...

    Another Subaru thread?

exactly this. If the best quality oil is SP, that’s what I want to run. It is designed for gasoline direct injection turbos and to reduce carbon deposits and timing chain wear. So if it is the same cost in the end, I want the superior product. I will call and see if they can send me their data...

    Another Subaru thread?

So, I have an Onyx XT on order. It should be here in a month or two. With the change to SP rated oil and it being compatible with SN Plus, I have a couple questions: Is the genuine OEM Subaru synthetic identical to the Idemitsu 0w-20 they offer as well? I know Idemitsu manufactures the Subaru...

2016 Honda Pilot appears to be consuming oil

For reference I found out the specifics: ODO 20732 Trip B is saved for OCI: 40% Oil Life Remaining - 3236 miles. I added 1 quart of Mobil Super 0w20 and it is now just shy of the high line area. Will continue to monitor. Dealer noted the account, allegedly. I’ll check it again before going...

2016 Honda Pilot appears to be consuming oil

That's great about the Powertrain being 5/60. Didn't realize that. I can breathe easier. I'll call the service department on Monday to just start a paper trail, but I don't think I'll have time to bring it in reference the vacation from a previous post. I will monitor it like a hawk. I'll also...

    Gray on Oil Dipstick?

Right, was thinking the same thing. Anything that looks like a chocolate milkshake could potentially be a head gasket issue with coolant getting into your oil... Or, most likely, it could be a Molybdenum additive. I use Liqui Moly MoS2 and it's a comparable color, though not so dark.

2016 Honda Pilot appears to be consuming oil

Hi all, I usually post about my Subarus but this time it’s my wife’s car. She has a 2016 Honda Pilot EX-L purchased new in July 2016, with the new Earth Dreams V6 engine and the 6 speed transmission. AWD. Today she was taking a day trip to visit some friends so since she’s about 75 miles each...

Interesting. Perhaps even pursuing an SN+ type of oil is better yet, since that helps with LSPI events, which are bad bad bad for a turbo.

Subaru Genuine 0w20 & Noack information

Hi all, I am considering one of the new third row Subaru SUV’s soon, the Subaru Ascent. It is powered by the FA24 direct injection turbo engine. The engine is new but built on the existing FA20 that is in Forester XT and WRX’s. My concern is the volatility and evaporability of the genuine...
