Sounds like there is a short somewhere... Get out the wiring diagram and trace the circuit to see where you need to check.

I don't think it will matter, just use a quality synthetic the meets your car's spec... I would change it and run it a bit right before you put it in the garage for the season.

Yeah, it was because of an oil leak. Honda Service Bulletin 20-023. The leak was fixed at the time of alternator replacement.

I had to replace an oil fouled Alternator on a Honda J35 and I was wondering if I should attempt to clean it and rebuild it or if I should just turn the core in for $50. Is it hard to rebuild and what parts would I need to do the job? I have never done one before. Thanks.
