How do you like the driving aids in today's cars?

This seems to be "by design". Our Toyota does it and our son's Honda does it as well. I suspect there's a company (Bosch ?) that develops the software and/or hardware that many automakers buy and use. They all have the same names, or very, very similar, for the features too.

How do you like the driving aids in today's cars?

I've got a headache from rolling my eyes at many of the comments here.... 🤪 Clearly many that are saying things have zero experience with this stuff. Lane-keeping assist - guess what ? If you stay in your lane, it never does anything. Pre-collision braking - guess what ? If you don't tailgate...

Francis Scott Key Bridge (Baltimore) hit by Cargo Ship and Collapsed

I'd be surprised if they "repair" this. Someone will deem it too risky and that the "best" thing to do is start over.

Francis Scott Key Bridge (Baltimore) hit by Cargo Ship and Collapsed

I question that amount.... There is a plan to rebuild a bridge across the Ohio River from Cincinnati to N KY and the number is $1 billion, as I recall. It's a shorter and simpler bridge too, if I'm not mistaken.

Why not just run a Euro oil?

My G35 (VQ35) needed an oil change last week but WM didn't have my preferred Castrol Magnatec in stock so I grabbed a bottle of QS 5W-40 "Euro" something. Paid little attention to the specifics.... It's in there now and I kinda like it. It's very quiet.

How do you like the driving aids in today's cars?

They don't "point to the ground", they tilt down a bit to help with parallel parking and to help avoid hitting the curb and so on. It's almost always an option that can be turned off and usually only tilts on the passenger mirror.

What screens ? These aids don't need or use any screens or displays.

    Last F1 race question

Look at Lewis and Fernando though. Both are older and while their cars are lacking currently, you can see that they've still got it. Hamilton may have the luckiest timing if things at Ferrari fall in place like they appear they might.

Francis Scott Key Bridge (Baltimore) hit by Cargo Ship and Collapsed

News story showed a vessel tracker and (2) tugs did push it out of dock and got it turned around and once it was pointed in the right direction in the ~middle of the river, the tugs left. They weren't clear about this part but it looked like one of the tugs turned around and chased after the...

    Last F1 race question

I really like Sergio Perez and wish he could deal with the pressure of being Max's teammate better. I think this is his biggest problem - he has to try soooooo hard to keep up with Max but IMO, if he paced himself and finished # 2 every race, he's made a huge accomplishment.

How do you like the driving aids in today's cars?

I think these systems take leaps and bounds every couple of years. My Mom has an '18 CR-V with the top-tier of Honda's Safety Sense at that time but it's a night and day difference with my wife's '24 Grand Highlander (also with v3.0 like the Corolla). We drove to Gatlinburg from SW Ohio and for...

Francis Scott Key Bridge (Baltimore) hit by Cargo Ship and Collapsed

That's a "safety factor". Sometimes you use 1.5x, sometimes 2x, and so on. In today's business world, cost gets factored in where you don't always have this liberty. I used to do 3D modeling and when I was designing something, I could define what each components material was, i.e. carbon steel...

The typical protection won't stop modern container ships. It would require a wedge shaped structure that extends 50+ meters away just to try and deflect a ship of that size away.

    Last F1 race question

What race did you watch ? 😂 Other than the first couple laps, seeing Max get passed, it was pretty boring. 24 overtakes total and a few were team order swaps. The "excitement" of Sainz passing Verstappen was quickly overshadowed once you realized he really didn't pass him based on his (Sainz) car.

When searching Walmart, how to eliminate searching on a previous car?

I run into the same glitch as atikovi and ^this^ is what I end up doing too. If there's a way to unlink a vehicle, I haven't found it. On the other hand, instead of getting annoyed at how poorly WM has this, I just flip to private mode and solve it (for me).

iPhone to USB C transfer Speed?

I've never used it for a lot of photos but it's blazing fast. Let me test it.... Well, that's lame... Tried the 236 photos I have in my phone (I routinely off-load them to Google Photos), told it to AirDrop them and picked my MBA. It said "Preparing..." for a second, then it went back to the...
