Looking at the data sheets of oils I noticed that one 5w30 might actually be closer to a 10w30 or, a 50w actually having a lower viscosity at 40c than another 20w50. Is the viscosity curve not a straight line hot to cold?

It seems ACdelco Dexos2 is blended by SK Lubricants of South Korea, and bottled by Kem Krest. The Dexos2 Lic number is for ZIC X9 D2, from SK lubricants in South Korea. The price is pretty good 8.23 retail per quart.

It's a personal, emotional thing. For the last few years I had been a Brand loyal with Valvoline, until they stopped selling a DEXOS2 approved oil. Was a Amsoil user and dealer, used only redline oil at one point. Now I'm not sure. Running Liqui moly right now.

Filters like the carquest 85050 rated at 10 microns are sold as bypass filters. Worth it to install one?

The filter is made by MANN with a syn blend media. It is very expensive at $33.

The engine itself would be happier with higher zinc and phosphorus, but the DPF would like less. So for light duty they are making a trade off?

3,000 miles and 6 months. I settled on a B5 biodiesel blend. Drives are short here in Hawaii, generally 5 miles each way.
