Scion Xb 0w30 Group IV Oil Choice

Not sure what year xB your mom purchased, but my 2008 xB owners manual says to use 5W-20 or 0W-20. It even goes further and recommends 0W-20 for fuel efficiency and better cold weather starting. There's a Toyota TSB that states the same thing. That's what I'm using year round here in PA, and I...

    My new chain lube

I really like Dupont Teflon Multi-Use Dry Wax Lubricant. Motorcyclists got me in on this stuff. Sprays on wet, then the carrier evaporates, leaving a dry, waxy lubricant. Lasts a long time and doesn't attract dirt. Can get a huge can at Lowe's for about $5.

Thanks, Tee. It's an automatic. I still generally don't do hard acceleration.

    PP 5W-30, Subaru Legacy 2.5i, 4207 miles

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'm going to check on my air intake system ASAP. Is 21 PPM of lead considered "damaging". I know I want to correct any problem, but can I read this as damage has already been done? Thanks again. Joe.

Also, can you guys explain why the boron and magnesium levels would be considerably lower than average? Thanks again. Joe.

    PP 5W-30, Subaru Legacy 2.5i, 4207 miles

Thanks for the input thus far gang. Nothing has been added to the fuel or oil. I run regular gas, usually Hess, Sheetz or Costco. Road trip went from Harrisburg, PA to Charlotte, NC to Hilton Head, SC, back to Harrisburg. I would also classify my driving habits as sedate. Please keep the...

    PP 5W-30, Subaru Legacy 2.5i, 4207 miles

Car had 7714 miles on the odometer. This sample was from my first oil change. Oil in engine from 12/31/06 to 04/12/07. 50/50 city/highway with a 1500 mile road trip. Still on original air filter and used an OEM Subaru filter. No make up oil used. Please post your thoughts. COMMENTS: When we see...

    Silverstar Ultra's?

I buy Osram Silverstars from overseas at powerbulbs.com They offer free shipping, and are a little over $30. They have no blue film over the glass enclosure. They're said to be better and brighter than the Sylvania Silverstars over here.

    oil for 2005 DRZ400SM

My Suzuki also calls for 10W-40. I use Suzuki Performance 4 oil. $2.15 per quart at Oneida Suzuki. It's MC specific and cheap. They can't argue if a warranty issue came up too.

half load and full load tire pressures

If he drives solo most of the time, I would run the half load ratings. The wife's Beetle not only has half and full load PSI settings, but also for over or under 100 MPH, leaving four possible configurations. Remember, recommended PSI from the vehicle manufacturer is a compromise between...

    Recommended OCI

Any idea how much that filter runs, either Wix or Napa labeled? I can get the OEM Suzuki filter for about $6.50 from Oneida Suzuki. They also sell the Suzuki Performance 4 motor oil for $2.15 per quart. I just checked my owners manual, OCI's are 3500 miles.

    Recommended OCI

Thanks for the info. I guess that would equate to a Napa Gold?

    Recommended OCI

Thanks for all the input, gang. I'm not looking to extend drain intervals, I'm just wondering if the recommended 4K mile change with Suzuki dino oil is feasable without incurring extra wear on the motor.

    Recommended OCI

After reading the posts from this site, and how hard motorcycles are on oil, I wonder if I can even go the recommended oil change interval in my owners manual without unnecessary wear on the bike. I have a 2005 Suzuki SV650, and use Suzuki Performance 4 mineral oil, 10W-40, and the Suzuki...

    Calling VW 1.8T owners

Thanks TooSlick and Mud. TooSlick, how much oil do you replace with a filter change in your TT? Claims like yours are why I'm considering going 10K. I'm certainly not opposed to cheap insurance, but I'm just weighing my options.

    Calling VW 1.8T owners

So no 10K interval owners? How about you Audi guys with 1.8T motors?
