Filter Efficiency: when small differences aren't small

Your standard response after misunderstanding someone is that they weren't clear when it was your own need to be seen as the expert that leads you to misinterpret. It is a pattern that repeats itself many times with you and your responses are entirely predictable. Amusingly, in this thread...

Filter Efficiency: when small differences aren't small

The word "only" was used in the context of not being as good as 99%. I was (obviously) talking solely about the rating at 50 microns since I had already made the point that the OE filters made for Japanese and German vehicles are only nearing 100% efficiency at that micron rating. I did not...

I think you may have misread my post because your graph is pretty much confirming the point I made.

Filter Efficiency: when small differences aren't small

If you consider that OE filters for Japanese and German vehicles seem to be 99% efficient "only" at the 40 to 50 micron range, then at least we can say there is a consensus that you don't want particles larger than 50 microns getting through the filter. Thus the problem with a Fram that leaks...

Lubrizol found that Performance Polymers, aka VIIs, helped reduce wear caused by the particles that get pass the air filter.

Does lube actually stick to brake pad contact points?

I wonder if this will last: https://textar.com/usa/service-products/#ceratec https://pagid.com/pagid-ceratec/ https://www.brembostoreusa.com/brembo-b-quiet/#heat-resistant-lubricant It says it's "Permanent". Up to 1000c, metal free, no solids. Metal to metal use only.

    Fram Ultra XG2 C&P

I tested 2 that were made in Aug 2022 (9 months earlier than this one) and they both leaked.

Negative experience with EBC Ultimax2 Brake Pads

Yes, tires stop the car. So when the OP said the EBC brakes had more stopping power (during street driving), what does that mean?

There are Ultras with both color media. Check the Walmart website to see the range across many applications. Also, yellow does not mean oiled.

Is this with an OE air filter (or something you believe is identical to OE)? I have seen an excellent report on a Honda OE air filter. I do agree that we still need to see testing on aftermarket synthetic filters. As we know with oil filters, synthetic media can be extremely efficient (Fram...

Negative experience with EBC Ultimax2 Brake Pads

There is a lot of marketing blurb on EBC's website and easy to see contradictions about how they describe their pads. In terms of dust; Ultimax2 dust rating 7/10 - "gentle on rotors, low on dust" "minimal dust" Yellowstuff dust rating 8/10 - "These are not low dust pads" Greenstuff dust...

Negative experience with EBC Ultimax2 Brake Pads

Yes but while the brake fade on the Passat was excellent, the Malibu and Accord had noticeably shorter stopping distance in a panic stop. I get that there is more to "performance", even on the road (and depending on how one drives), but in a panic situation, what is the benefit of having better...

Also, here is a post from 2005. One of the other things that is good about synthetic air filters is that they have higher initial efficiency. The biggest issue I see with all the filters tested in this thread is how poor their efficiency is for a substantial amount of the beginning of their...

You can get spec sheets from M&H and Mahle will also provide information. Since they are OE to German auto manufacturers, if their aftermarket product is identical to the factory installed product or the product available from the dealer in a Mercedes / BMW / Audi / Porsche box is the same, then...

Yes I think it is the best bet amongst the readily available brands but don't know if it is better than Japanese or European OE filters. The Ultra I have is made in the USA.

Negative experience with EBC Ultimax2 Brake Pads

So on the road (not track), are you saying that some EE rated semi metallic pads will have shorter stopping distance than GG rated ceramic? And if the answer is yes, is that because of the initial bite and / or something else?
