    Bypass Valve pressure specs (Mann for VW/Audi)

    __ 917/30 -> 940/25, +13.7 oz (.43 qt) 930/21 -> 940/25, +6.4 oz (.2 qt) Yes, but the oversized V6 filter proposition is less appealing.

    Bypass Valve pressure specs (Mann for VW/Audi)

    Let's take a look at Purolator filters. For 1.8T I4 L20252, 06A115561B, 25-35psi L30257, 068115561B, 20-25psi For 2.8/3.0 V6 L25401, 078115561J, 30-40psi It appears that the J filter has greater bypass pressure than either B filters. And, the oversized 1.8T filter that some folks like to...

    opinion of Castrol 5w50

    Castrol 5W-50 used to be moribundman's second favorite gilded drink. ;-) It worked very well in his Audi SOHC V6 engine, but he has renounced it - another disciple of oil marketing fanaticism. Just kidding mori! ;-) All kidding aside, C 5W-50 works very well in older Euro engines.

    505.01 Oil

    Mori, it appears that you don't understand the point I'm trying to make. GC is a high-tech 503 01 oil that also happens to be 502 00 approved. BC is specifically a 502 00 oil - a blend. With your logic GC is a typical SL oil since it carries the SL approval. BC (a specific 502 00 oil), and...

    Best 5W-40 synthetic?

    Mori, I would agree! Mori, _I believe_ even you would agree that it would be better to reduce oil consumption from 1qt/1000 miles to 1 qt/2000 miles or less. I never said that consumption should be zero. Please read more carefully. Similar discussion As with other discussions in the past...

    505.01 Oil

    Mori, that is correct. Most 500 00 _specific_ oils were synthetic blends or HC. Yes, many non-500 00-specific group 4/5 oils were approved for 500 00 too. GC is also API SL approved. Does that mean SL requires a fancy ester-based PAO? Obviously, no. Also take a look at 500 00 oils that exist...

    Best 5W-40 synthetic?

    BC 5W-40 meets 502 00 approval with a unique formulation of group 3,4,5 oils and an additive package that is high in Mg - 1000 ppm. I believe this is the preferred oil for many Audi/VW engines with low-tension rings that can't scrap Mobil 1, GC, and other "real" synthetic oils off their cylinder...

    505.01 Oil

    > VW 500.00 was replaced by VW 502.00 years ago. > How come this Elf oil is only "suitable" for VW > 502.00? Last time I saw the bottle I thought it > said it met VW 502.00. Mori, I've noticed that most all 505 01 PD TDI oils are also rated for 500 00, but not 502 00. I believe this is the...

    > Well, that's just a disadvantage for them--they > should be "proud" of their specs...it's not > like they are revealing proprietary info. It may be a disadvantage for them with BITOG members, which is not important for any oil producer. Providing min/max specs may be a cost saver by not...
