    Carburetor main jet sizing

If the new carb has a slide, I would be working on the slide cut away. That effects the off idle performance.

    VCT vs cove base adhesive

Cove base adhesive usually comes in a caulking tube. It is much thicker and gets “assembled” wet. It also fills in gaps and surface irregularities. I would only use cove base adhesive on vinyl base. It should be in the flooring department.

Won the bid, not sure if I will be awarded the 1979 YAMAHA XS1100

I’m guessing that the jets are plugged almost solid. The bowl vent is a much larger opening and located up high in the bowl. I think Gon has already had it turning over. Small risk of a cylinder being full of gas.

Won the bid, not sure if I will be awarded the 1979 YAMAHA XS1100

I think this is as easy as the floats and needles being stuck and gas flowing out the float bowl vents. After the gas tank pictures one can only imagine what the inside of the bowls look like. Just pull the carbs as a set and pull the bowls. Bet they’re gummed up good.

Won the bid, not sure if I will be awarded the 1979 YAMAHA XS1100

I would etch and coat the tank with a liner. The fine rust that will be present will always cause problems with the carbs even if you run filters.

How hard is it to learn a guitar solo if you have never played.

Think that Eminence Front solo has some alternate tuning in it. It would take some time to copy Pete. He was the best rhythm guitar player to ever play lead. Love his playing.

    Speaker level controlled by rheostats.

70 line volt systems are used for long speaker runs. Pretty good possibility the system is configured that way.

old 5HP B&S - new coil - still no spark?

Last resort, check the flywheel key. If it is partially sheared, the timing for spark generation will be messed up. This would be for a magneto type ignition.

Cast iron - Good Health No 6 Major Pitting

I would caution against sanding/grinding cast iron pans. Yellow top Easy Off oven cleaner in a bag or an electrolysis tank are the preferred methods of cleaning. The pits will fill in with cooking. Thanks, Andy
