Baking Cookies in the Car - 2.0

My sister once had a gray 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier. It was gray inside too. It was once so hot in there that a box of cassette tapes she had was partially melted. When she first got it there was even plastic on the seats. Imagine what that thing was like on a hot sunny day when you get in. It was...

Mopar AW-1 autotrans fluid Fiat 500

With the T-55 plug and all it sounds like a similar design to the 09G which is really an Aisin transmission. It turns out that the fluid is really WS but for the first generation it was Type T-IV. Depending on what your fluid cross references to you might be able to get it cheap at a Toyota dealer.

    DIY: 2018+ Camry 4-cyl ATF Change (UB80E)

I don't know why they make it so you have to take a wheel off to do it. I guess they have to find new ways to scare people away from maintaining their own car.

    Any Rotor Foundries in U.S.??

I didn't know there was worse than Chinese. Not all things they make are awful but when you get something Chinese because it was not expensive it can be garbage. I wonder how awful the Korean rotors are. I am imagining rotors that warp way too soon or always sound like fingernails on a chalk...

    Any Rotor Foundries in U.S.??

If you are afraid of getting bad rotors, get a known good brand. Can't go wrong that way.

Does power steering fluid need changing?

At walmart in the section with the grills and accessories you can get marinade injector syringes for 88 cents. The work for about a couple uses before the plunger gets stuck, I guess CHF-202 is hard on the rubber plunger and eventually swells it some. If one had a silicone plunger tip instead it...

Does power steering fluid need changing?

It can't hurt to change that fluid, just make sure to use the right stuff and don't go and blindly dump transmission fluid in there. Some vehicles take a special fluid that should be used or you may have leaks or maybe a steering rack that does not operate smoothly anymore. Use what is...

    new 2019 Jetta 8-speed auto~what fluid?

If the fluid for that is G053001A2, I found a picture of it on ECS tuning somewhere and it is not only labeled with that part number it is also labled AW-2. So far I have not found much if any info on AW-2. Is it the same as or similar to WS? I looked on Blauparts searching for AW-2 and nothing...

    new 2019 Jetta 8-speed auto~what fluid?

Does the gear selector say DSG anywhere on or around it? Volkswagens can come with an automatic transmission or DSG which is like an automatic. That is if it is not a manual transmission. The fluid for yours might be different but when I asked the dealer which fluid to use I took my VIN number...

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

My latest was 2 more liters of Ravenol T-WS for my 2013 Passat. It came in 4 liter jug and out of my pan comes close to 2 liters each drain and fill. A lot of people change it 2 or 3 times maybe more and this was my 2nd change (can't flush on this car). It seems to shift so much better now...

2006 VW Jetta 2.5 spark plugs

I read that somewhere once. Volkswagen owns Lamborghini so it would be easy for them to use the already existing parts from other vehicles such as those. Rather than spending all that money to design a new part for the 2.5 they just used that instead and made the 2.5 block work with it. The...

2006 VW Jetta 2.5 spark plugs

The VW 2.5 has not changed much. My 2006 Jetta had a MAF sensor but that is missing on 2013. My guess is they switched to MAP on later models. Other than that everything looks the same so it is possible that it would also work on later models.

2006 VW Jetta 2.5 spark plugs

I had a 2006 Jetta 2.5 and had the PCV valve problem. I don't think the individual parts for that were available at that time. I found this kit here at Advance Auto Parts. One thing to keep in mind is that there may be other brands if you don't like this one for some reason but here it is: VW...

Have the "Dexcool" coolant flushed out of your GM vehicle...

Really there is no such thing as a lifetime coolant, motor oil, transmission fluid or any other fluid for that matter. If you want to keep a vehicle running long you might want to eventually change them all. They all degrade or become contaminated over time. I don't like hearing about a fluid...

Any Partial Coolant Drain Advocates ?

Depending on the vehicle a partial drain might be all that can be done easily. On my Volkswagen there is no petcock on the radiator but the hose is easy enough to connect and disconnect. I would expect that others would be very similar.

You ever eat any moldy food after removing the mold?

I don't imagine that being the kind of green to have on St. Patrick's day.

    It's Getting Warm Already

I am in Pennsylvania and it felt almost like summer. Spring has not sprung yet. It was really weird only having to clear the sidewalk twice this winter. That and it was not even a lot of snow. Some of it was so light I just blew it off the sidewalk with an 18 volt leaf blower (they work better...

    I wince every time....

There are also plastic removable speed bumps. Those should be illegal and even banned. What I don't like about them is they have trapezoidal cross section. They are just overly harsh to drive over. They also make me glad my car is not lowered at all. At one end of one of them is enough space I...

    Beck Arnley oil filters?

I thought that it was rebranded stuff too. I ordered one of their air filters for my Mother's Nissan Rogue and it looked like the same one it came with but minus the bugs and dirt. It even had the same shade of green filter media. Coincidentally it looked like a Febi Bilstein filter I had...
