Tuned car - should I change timing belt early?

I am just curious if it would be a good idea to do my timing belt early since my car is tuned a bit. I own a 2017 VW Jetta 1.4TSI that makes 150 hp stock with 184 ft lbs of torque. Since new I have installed a high-flow AWE Tuning cat back exhaust with an AEM short-ram cold air intake, a Forge...

I think I used the wrong fluid....

Hello everyone, I am creating a new thread so as to better decipher whether I should do my extremely laborious transmission fluid replacement all over again or whether I should just wing it and call it good so to speak. So, to start with, I have a suped up 2017 Jetta 1.4TSI that I recently did...

What's wrong with tire shine? Does it mess up the tires somehow? By the way I run Goodyear F1 Asymetric F1 All-seasons.

    LIQUI MOLY MoS2 trial run.

Does anyone know if their Motor Protect additive has Mos2 additive in it. I notice these guys have a bunch of additives but the CeraTec (which seems to be popular) and the Motor Protect seem to be the most expensive ones they sell, however you don't hear about it as much.

    Need advice for waxing products

So, I have a pretty religious schedule of car detailing, and once a month my wife's car and mine both get a full wash, dry, wax, headlight cleaning, and wheel cleaning treatment. I used to use Nufinish liquid wax but swithched to Mother's Synwax which seems to be doing an excellent job thus far...

    Amsoil High Mileage?

As for the Royal Purple vs. Valvoline battle that seems to be igniting in here, I have no problems with the Valvoline I just feel like the car drives better with the RP. It feels a little peppier according to my butt dyno, and that is all the justification I need. However, I will say that I do...

    Amsoil High Mileage?

I do like my x-type even though its not a popular car and many people deride it for being based upon the European Ford Mondeo platform. However, you never see anyone bashing Audi for using VW platforms, and the Mondeo was a pretty good car for its time really. The x-type is only 20% Ford parts...

You've got me there. I don't have them and never did. All I know is that he tested my compression and it was low, I bought Restore and added it, he said the compression issue was gone some time later when he retested it. As for my knowledge of the issue, it was quite easy to tell the difference...

Too many additives to choose from!

When I changed my spark plugs about a year ago I noticed some oil in the spark plug wells. Naturally I changed the spark plug tube gasket and the upper intake manifold gasket as well but I am curious what could have caused this. Apparently my Jaguar AJV6 engine is a british built specialized...

    Amsoil High Mileage?

Yes, I am 28 and I'm studying for a Masters in Organizational Leadership. I am not the most technically skilled or educated person with regard to mechanical aptitude but I make an effort and have done quite a bit of stuff to my car myself thanks to the Haynes manual and an investment in some...

    Amsoil High Mileage?

I'm not gonna argue with you there, I work as a bartender and save my money aggressively while still splurging on my car as much as I can. Repairs alone have killed me. Probably the biggest heart-attack inducing line items in my service log is the cost to practically replace my whole suspension...

It seems as if their are more and more liqui moly fans all the time. Leave it to the Germans to blitzkrieg the additive market.

Too many additives to choose from!

I know, they aren't the coolest mods but they have done something for me. I did manage to get 39hp out of what I've done so far according to the dyno, and my electricals work wonderfully thanks to all the grounding especially when I've got everything turned on. That might not be cool to you but...

    Amsoil High Mileage?

I just figured that some of these additives had to be worth a try. The owner of the shop I go to swears by the liqui moly stuff and hes a professional so it got me thinking thats all. Also, I'm a grad student so I'm used to doing a lot of research and have access to a lot of scholarly journals...

    Amsoil High Mileage?

You really think thats all it would cost? I'm not mocking you by saying that I'm just genuinely curious now. Everything on this car is a pain in the @$$ so I am just suspect it would be that cheap....

Too many additives to choose from!

Im not gonna lie I've never done a UOA, however I have done a couple of compression tests and the compression problem does seem to be solved. As for what the Copper, Silver, and Lead have done to my engine god only knows.... On the brightside (from my perspective), some people seem to have used...

Additives for tranny and transfer case?

That sucks about your description of the thick syrup with the metal shavings. That gave me shivers a little bit lol. That is exactly what I am trying to avoid.

    Amsoil High Mileage?

You know, the Valvoline Max-Life full syn stopped the leaks just fine, I just prefer the RP because I swear I gained another hp or two when I used it in addition to stopping the leaks. The Mobil 1 leaked a little too much.
