Walmart In-Store deals! $32 for 12 quarts of SuperTech Full Synthetic! $39 for 12 quarts Valvoline Advanced!

I bought the single one of these they had. Saw some 5w40 that was already cleared. QS jugs I think.

    Post your latest oil change

I had been putting it off over and over because it needs a valve adjustment. Wanted to do it all in one go but still procrastinated. Finally realized oil is cheap and I can get the valves adjusted on the next nice day. I did change out the spark plugs, old ones didn't even look bad.

Frugal choice for 5k OCIs on 5.4 3v

According to all my research, yes. 2v didn't suffer these issues.

Frugal choice for 5k OCIs on 5.4 3v

Excellent to hear. I know there are many many anecdotal cases of 350k+ 3v engines with no major engine repairs. I do suspect, as I mentioned above, that a timing set will be necessary in the foreseeable future. There's about a half second of what I am assuming to be chain rattle on cold...

Frugal choice for 5k OCIs on 5.4 3v

I have a 2.5 gal of rotella t5 that I've been sitting on but I'm concerned to run a 10w in Ohio, at least in winter.

Frugal choice for 5k OCIs on 5.4 3v

On this valve spring replacement I ended up doing I did take notice that the chain tension was low after sitting a few days, so I know a timing set will probably be in the future. I would like to find some 5w-40 or similar, it would give some extra peace of mind.

Frugal choice for 5k OCIs on 5.4 3v

Hi all. I did the first oil change on our 2104 Expedition with Pennzoil Platinum HM 5w-30. Bought 2 5qt jugs (7qt fill), ran that for 5k miles and did the second change with the remaining 3qts of Platinum HM and the balance with regular Pennzoil Full Syn 5w30. Looking forward I'd like to find a...

I was tempted by this 5w-40, but I really need to organize and reevaluate the stash I have on hand right now anyway.

How do you like 5w-40 in the K24a? Mine is overdue and has been valvetrain chattery for the entirety of this run of 5w-20.

    Bad Injector plug causing misfire

The long awaited conclusion to this dead misfire seems to be here. After checking and rechecking and getting a poor, low effort dealership diagnosis, it seems to have been a broken valve spring this whole time. About 10 miles of driving and lots of idling and so far so good. The nightmare may...

    Bad Injector plug causing misfire

Yes, that was living in cylinder 3. I'm not sure about the rest but I'm going to pull 4 out once it cools down. I've swapped and reseapped coils and tr misfires remain on 3 and 4. What would cause this plug rust? Old coolant leak?

    Bad Injector plug causing misfire

I pulled and replaced the cylinder 3 plug with no improvement. Definitely feels like it's got two dead cylinders at least. I will have to check more tomorrow. I'm second guessing my coil swap now, thinking I might have not switched them at all. What's the easiest way to check an injector? I'm...
