For a NA ford with a 3.5 duratec with dual VVT. I am planing to use Castrol Edge Extended Performance (gold bottle) 5w-20. Are the BOSS filters better at filtration and quality than the FL500S? Its around $12 compared to $8 for the motorcraft.

One of my Tauruses needs an oil change soon. I usually use M1 because its cold here in NJ and I like to have better flow ability. However AAP has Motorcraft on sale with a Motocraft filter for $24.99?

Compared to say, Mobil 1 HM of the same weight. I know my interval will be shorter. Switching over from a M1 filter and M1 HM oil, down to MC and an FL400s.
