Liqui Moly Special Tec V 0w30?

Hello BITOG. What do you all think about this oil for my 2016 Volvo V60 T5 Drive-E 2.0 Turbo? It's a bit spendy at $40 for 5 liters, but I want to keep things by the book while the car is under warranty at least. Volvo's recommendations in the owner's manual are very unclear to me. Am I safe...

Volvo owners what oils do your cars like?

I've been using the Mobil 1 HM 10w-40 for the last two changes... may try Rotella T 5w-40 this next time. Unless someone can give me any reason not to.

Why not require amber rear turn signals?

I agree with you 100%. I hate seeing red rear turn signals. While we're on the topic of turn signals, I think it'd also be nice if sidemarkers were required on all new vehicles, as has already been the case in Europe for a long time.

    Turbo leaking oil

Nope, unfortunately this turbo requires a bit of work to fit this engine, plus it's a reverse scroll unit. Direct fit turbo's for this motor are the Mitsu TD04 13G, 15G, 16T, 18T, 19T. You don't want the 13G as it's a dinky little thing. 15G is what you have now. 16T is marginally better than...

    Castrol Syntec 5w-40 / 3,020 miles / '95 Volvo 850 T5

Having seen what the crank/bearings look like in these engines, I'm nearly certain that they are not made of copper. I'm pretty confident that it is indeed surface metals from the oil pressure sender and adapter, both of which are a golden color, indicating that they're most likely alloys of...

    Castrol Syntec 5w-40 / 3,020 miles / '95 Volvo 850 T5

First time ever for me to get a UOA and I'm happy with the results I'd say. Higher copper is most likely due to the sender for the oil pressure gauge I installed about 100 miles before the change. This car is extensively modified with performance goodies and sees some track time also, so quite...

    Volvo XC70

The only Volvo XC70 to consider are the new ones with the Haldex AWD. On older models, the AWD system is very picky and prone to failure if not meticulously maintained. Most issues with the earlier P2 platform XC70's have been resolved by this point I'd say.

    Elf Excellium LDX 5W-40

Pretty sure it's a blend of Grp III and Grp IV. This is one of the oils I was considering for my next change. I decided on Motul 8100 5w-40 instead. Maybe I'll try the Elf after that.

    Twenty ways to spend too much;

This is true for most vehicles on the road, but it seems foolish to recommend it for all vehicles. While most modern cars have knock sensors to detect knock and retard timing, owners of forced induction or high static compression ratio engines will certainly be able to notice a difference in the...

    Recommendations for new Audi RS4

Motorspot (I Don't think I'm allowed to link due to forum rules) is a great place to buy Motul products from. It looks like 0w-40 is your best bet since it has the VW 502 00 / 505 00 / 503.01 approvals. Though I'm not certain of it, I'd imagine Audi would recommend one of those.

when do you 'upgrade' your oil?

Castrol has Formula RS, which is available in 10w-50 or 10w-60 viscosities. They also offer Castrol Edge in a 5w-50. I'd be nervous with such a large gap in the 10w-60, but if the base oil is strong, shearing shouldn't be too much of a problem. If it were me, I'd go w/ the Castrol RS 10w-50. I...

    Euro Oils, Decisions Decisions...

I love the TT S4's. I love the looks, the handling, and the pure power of them. I've seen those things make Supra's look like Honda Civics. I'd buy one if I didn't have the hellish thing that comes every 6 months called tuition. ****, I love turbo cars period. My dad owns a '95 300ZX Twin Turbo...

    Euro Oils, Decisions Decisions...

Well, it's not exactly stock either, which is the reason I've been using a racing oil like 300V. Among the modifications are 16T turbo @ 1 bar boost, 3" downpipe, 2.5" mufflerless cat-back, MTE chip, big bore TB, K&N filter, port 'n polish intake manifold matched to head. It's making over 300...

    Euro Oils, Decisions Decisions...

Alright guys, first post. Been a lurker for a while and have searched/researched this topic as much as possible. First off, I am currently running Motul 300V Power 5w-40 in my 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo w/ about 100k miles on it. From what I've read, it (the Motul) uses a 100% diester base oil. I've...
