    09 Lexus RX350 with 26k miles

Doesn't that engine spec high octane gas?...not sure how they do on the lower octane stuff. I believe they modified them to run 87 in 2012/13.

    Are Hyundais reliable?

I bought a Hyundai Venue a year ago (Limited model). I currently drive about 5k miles per year and most of that is local driving. On trips of 1-2 hours it's reasonably comfortable and roomier than you'd think. I'm very satisfied with it and bought it because of the non-direct injected engine...

Winter Tires or All Weather Tires

I installed a set of CC2's and have been very impressed with their winter performance. They seem to hook up well and braking and cornering are impressive in 4-6 inches of snow. I do think they are a little noisier than the all seasons I had previously but the trade off is worth it.

    Ran Jeep for 20 - 30 seconds w/o Oil

Last August my nephew performed an oil change on our 2003 Camry and didn't tighten the oil filter (said he didn't want to "over tighten" it). When he started it the next day to go to work the car blew the filter off in the garage. There was a large puddle of oil on the floor plus the filter. He...

Supertech Advanced Synthetic 0W-20, 4,704 miles, 2021 Subaru Forester Limited

Somewhat disappointing additive levels here (despite the stated trend in that direction). I was a devoted user of Supertech oil but current pricing.and what appears to be a relatively weak add pack convinces me that there are better choices at this point. .Is the same thing happening to the...

“Cheap” Cars Still Exist: 2024 Buick Envista

That 1.2l is equipped with a GM built CVT in the fwd Trailblazer. I read a review of it and they actually liked the CVT. I wonder why GM is mating it with a 6 speed auto in this application (cost, reliability)?

Yokohama Avid Ascend GT or Continental True Contact Tour ?

I agree with the consensus here on the Continentals. I have a set (second) on the Suzuki, my sister is running them on her Honda and I've recommended them to relatives and friends. If ever I've encountered a "does everything" tire these are it. Smooth, great wear, exceedingly quiet and...

My First 24 hours being sick,CV19

We recently had a household member with it. Symptoms were pretty typical...mild fever and some congestion for several days with lingering fatigue...nothing serious. We isolated as much as possible and wore masks when prudent. I have not been sick with this virus even though I've been obviously...

    2017 Buick Encore Sport Touring

Yeah...looks like a pass. GM never did a recall...just a tsb and repairs under warranty. Newer models beyond 2018 are supposedly ok.

    2017 Buick Encore Sport Touring

I was having a conversation with an elderly lady in the parking lot of the local supermarket today who was driving a 2018 Buick Encore. I asked her how she liked the vehicle and she said she really liked it....easy access/egress, easy to park, etc. It was an AWD model. She mentioned that her...

End of an era... 2007 Impala

I bought a year old 2008 Impala LT from a local dealership with 25k miles. Turns out the car was an Enterprise rental unit ( they had several in stock). Apparently GM had agreed to provide a "delete" package removing the side curtain airbags and abs from the cars to reduce the price (didn't...

    Need an engine...recommendations?

The drain plug was still in place...the filter blew off and was the source of the oil loss...is it possible enough oil stayed in the sump to save it? There was a small puddle of oil under the car when we were there today (not a lot...cleaned it up best I could). Oh yeah...I tightened the filter...

    Need an engine...recommendations?

I went ahead and put a new filter and oil in a while ago and started it up...quiet as a church mouse. Drove it home and all seems fine...no noises or knocking. He probably didn't drive it far enough to cause catastrophic damage. Still, we'll be watching the oil level and listening and watching...

    Need an engine...recommendations?

We'll definitely try to add some cheap oil and a filter and see if it will start and run first but what are the chances that an engine run without oil for at least 10 minutes would survive without major damage? I am leaning towards the JDM if necessary.

    Need an engine...recommendations?

Three days ago my nephew did an oil change on the 2003 Camry in my garage. He was adamant that he would not let the local shop do it because they put the oil filter on too tight (had to get a special wrench to get the last one off). This morning he left the house to go to work and I walked out...

Low Mileage Used Cars for Big Dollars

I'm retired and hardly drive these days. I would like to get a new car (something small and economical...) but there isn't isn't anything out there (how are these dealerships staying in business?). I've decided to just keep my "orphan" 2010 Suzuki Kizashi (still running great with 106k on the...

2003 Camry cv shaft replacement recommendations?

In checking the front end of the 2003 Camry it seems the passenger side CV axle has quite a bit of play in it. I've been chasing down a vibration that cropped up after remounting the all season tires several weeks ago. The tires have less than 10k miles and the shop said the balance was spot...

Bought a toy for summer cruising

I learned to drive on my dad's '56 Chevy pickup...6 cylinder with a 3 on the tree. It ran great but the heater left something to be desired when temps dipped below zero. It served him well for many years.

1999 Chevy Lumina w/60k original miles for $1,800...would you buy?

I won't have to worry about this "deal". The owner's son said that the price is $5,000 ( said his mother wasn't aware of used car pricing in this market...also the car is a "collector's item" 🙄). Yeah...so's my used underwear...

1999 Chevy Lumina w/60k original miles for $1,800...would you buy?

I know this car could be a huge money pit... defective gaskets (a given unless already replaced) plus the other potential other issues for these cars (trans, steering rack, a/c issues, etc). Even with stellar maintenance and a pristine body it would probably be a "nickel and dimer". Still, a 23...
