How do you keep bottom of mower deck clean?

Do you remove the deck after each use? How do you keep the grass clippings from accumulating on your rider? I understand you can use a blower but can't imagine that getting the clippings without deck removal? Getting a new mower so I want to take the best care possible. Thanks.

Pulleys and Belts on a Riding Lawn Mower

Hello all. I'm a bit down in the dumps. My mower repair place (dealer) just called and said that I have to get my pulleys and belts replaced at a cost of $200. That's on top of the charge for pickup and drop off with an oil change and blade sharpening, etc. Grand total? $375- $400 is the...

    Fuel additives for short tripper?

I've never used fuel additives. My wife drives constant short trips. Sometimes they are as short as a mile to the gym. It drives me nuts but what to do short of have her drive around town for no other reason? Would I be wise to consider a fuel additive for her car? If so, what brand and how...

I didn't burp my system! (Radiator drain and fill)

I didn't burp the system when I did a drain and fill in my 2011 Civic. The guy who was helping me (a backyard mechanic) insisted it wasn't necessary. It's been over a year and 8k miles since this was done. Am I looking at damage being done? Should I do another proper drain and fill or is this a...

    Fk 1000P vs. Collinite 476

I currently use Fk 1000P. After reading numerous accolades for Collinite 476, I was wondering if it wouldn't make for a better year-round application. Not too concerned about looks as much as I am lasting protection. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Riding Mowers- Stamped vs. Fabricated Decks

Hey all. I'm possibly in the market this Spring for a new riding lawn mower. I am strongly considering the Cub Cadet Xt2 series of mowers. I have a dealer right down the street that does a good job of servicing my older Cub Cadet mower. So I like having a dealer so close in case I had any...

    Are Yokohama tires any good?

I'm looking to put new tires on my 09 Honda Civic. I have Continental Contact AS tires on my 2011 Civic with only 6k miles on them. Was thinking of going with those on my 09 but there is currently no promotion on the Continentals. Yokohama YK740's have $100 worth of rebates included for the...

    How long before replacing struts?

I have 75k miles on my 2009 Civic and want to know if the time is about right for me to change out my struts. The mechanic at CarX claims it's about that time. Replacements will run $1030.00 with labor. Not something I want to do unless I am close to having to do it anyway. They told me that...

I have a 2009 Civic lx with drum breaks. It has 75k miles and the drums haven't been touched less an inspection many years ago. My question is when is it about time to think about replacing drum shoes? My car drives and brakes great. Just looking for preventative advice. Should I take them in...

Should I switch to Mobil One EP for the ....

Should I switch to Mobil One EP for the PAO content? I've established, with some great help, that I am sticking with 0W-20 weight oil. Now I am wondering if it is worth switching from regular, full synthetic, Mobil 1 to EP for the added benefit of the greater PAO content? (I will still be doing...

    8th Generation Civics Oil Weights?

My civics recommend (owner's manual) a 5w-20 or a 0w-20 oil. I've been using the 0w-20 oil from Mobile One for years. I was just told recently by a car nut that I don't know more than just an acquaintance that the 0w-20 is good for gas mileage but will eventually shorten engine life. Help...

Mobile Mechanics on Craigslist... mostly a ripoff?

Are any of these guys legit? If so, why not work somewhere legitimate? They claim to be able to save you at least half off what you would pay at a regular mechanic. Would you trust one to work on your car? Curious if anyone has had experience, good or bad, with a mobile mechanic....

Using car ramps to change oil/ transmission fluid.

It's been a long time since I slid under a car. (Early 20's) I'm looking for the safest way to get under my car to do basic fluid changes. What do you think of car ramps combined with safety jacks in place just in case? Does it get any safer than that? Thanks
