Switching from High Mileage to non High Mileage

I use full synthetic in my cars just because... But, for the F250... maybe there is a reason why Ford/Motorcraft sells blended oil, not full synthetic? I don't think cost is the reason, since it isn't their cost.

Valvoline MaxLife ATF now includes CVT applications (as of 2021, May), Date Codes

Later: I found out at Walmart the Castrol Universal ATF and bought it. Better specs for my application. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Castrol-Transmax-ATF-CVT-Universal-Automatic-Transmission-Fluid-1-Gallon/641751153

Valvoline MaxLife ATF now includes CVT applications (as of 2021, May), Date Codes

Data sheet says only 5.9 cSt at 100°C and 28 cSt at 40°C. Lower than what normal, non-LV, ATF fluids had. I am tempted to use it in Hyundai and Kia that require ATF SP-III where I previously used with great results Castrol Import Multi-vehicle with 7.4 cSt and 35 cSt respectively... Another...

Who has used a high viscosity transmission fluid in a LV application?

First off I was talking about Castrol, not the sh**show that Toyota WS is. That fluid is LV, but is not synthetic. Lots of modifiers. Oxidizes in no time. And that 5.18 cSt result you call "they shear out at 30k miles and the end up lower than synthetic LV"? I don't know what the Toyota WS...

The decimal , is correct for US. Other countries use the . for that purpose.

Who has used a high viscosity transmission fluid in a LV application?

Those AISIN transmissions were originally designed for T4. WS is "working", but IMO that's just because the original pumps had enough head capacity to drop from. The pump pressure regulator takes care of maintaining the right pressure if it tends to be too high, by dumping more fluid back in the...

New to me 2004 Expedition 5.4l Transfer Case fluid?

Castrol® Transmax™ DEX/MERC meets MERCON requirements. Here is the datasheet: https://msdspds.castrol.com/bpglis/FusionPDS.nsf/Files/68D5435223A1FD148025814500665523/$File/BPXE-ANM933.pdf The AWD in my Explorer didn't use friction packs, it was a true differential with a sealed Vascous Coupler...

New to me 2004 Expedition 5.4l Transfer Case fluid?

Bad choice. Mercon V was a normal viscosity fluid, like Mercon. Now you are planning to get LV fluid... I guess you care more about gas mileage (0.5mpg or so ) than the life of that TC. Next thing you know you are posting here upset that "Ford TC are crap, they fail".... I have junked a Ford...

    Ford transfer case

Originally those were Mercon V. Then, for fuel economy, they dropped the viscosity requirement to LV. You saw the results... Now what you want more? 1/2 or 1 extra MPG or longevity of the truck?

    CVT fluids

Valvoline CVT has a KV100 of 5.6 Castrol CVT has a KV100 of 7.1 Idemitsu (Genuine NS3) has a KV100 of 6.23: http://www.findmymsds.com/nissan/pdfs/99998-CVTNS3-E.PDF Note the KV40 of 23. In hot climates I would go for the higher KV100. Especially on Nissan hot transmissions.

Higher quality CVT fluid alternative over factory Nissan for 2015 Sentra?

My 2 cents: For Nissan CVTs, that run hot anyway, Castrol's 100C viscosity index of 7.1 mm²/s is very desirable.

Higher quality CVT fluid alternative over factory Nissan for 2015 Sentra?

Well... that's a Nissan CVT so there's nothing you can do about that. Except trade it in. https://ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/nissan-cvt-problems-continue/ http://www.lemonlawcase.com/problem-vehicles/nissan-cvt-problems/ Personally I trust Castrol, I had good results with their fluids...

    Chevy Bolt fire risk

In my mind, the manufacturer country is where the HQ and CEO is located and where most of the profits are going back. Not where the slaves are working to build the tincans.

Do you have a parking garage? Only when involved in a very violent crash. Not when parked.

I remember that my Explorer had the recall done, where they have added a fused harness on that circuit. I wasn't even the original owner, they got it in for annual inspection and just added that free of charge.

    Chevy Bolt fire risk

There are plenty of Tesla examples. Insurances were caught with their homework not done, paid a few claims and now they refuse the coverage in case of Lithium fires. Because everybody got used with Tesla fires... Park FAR away from those charging stations. I have a parking garage that I go...

Unintended harm of subsidizing electric cars

Again, for a stove or dryer there is a certain "diversity" of the loads. Nobody cooks or dries clothes in the same exact time, for more than 3 hours at a time. The chargers might do that. Incidentally, the 80% reduction of the circuit breaker allowance applies only to continuous loads, that's...

Unintended harm of subsidizing electric cars

Technically, you two guys are arguing the same thing. And... is a bit off-topic. Government gives one money by allowing him not to pay the fair share of taxes, just because he bought an EV. That means a bigger tax load on everyone else, since the budget remains the same.
