Wear indicator on rear brake pad question

I had the electronic wear indicator on my 98 Fiat 😂 And a lightbulb monitoring system too...and a fantastic automatic AC. I miss that car. That said, maybe it's weight related, but I've often noticed on people's car where I changed brake pads (never on my own car, but I do tend to change...

2021 Kia Sorento hybrid, Amsoil SS 0W20, 3500km

Did you use some race gas or fuel stabilizer? Where is that potassium coming from? I'm surprised to see "so much" tin and vanadium 🤔 What oil are you running now, thicker?

Does timing belt vs chain influence your used car decisions?

I used to only look for cars with a timing chain, but with the increasing complexity (and fragility?) of timing chains in newer engines, I'm almost more eager to have a timing belt now.

Any cars you regret buying? - My '14 CR-V experience

Funny I found this thread, my biggest regret is also a Honda. 2010 Accord coupe with 6MT. I was looking for a cheap MT car and this one came up, no rust so I bought it. Engine is fine but boring and not enthusiastic for the power its supposed to make. Don't know if it's VTEC or something but it...

Which of these A3/B4 Oils Would You Choose?

I like the Petronas Syntium 7000 0W40, it very subjectively feels "smooth", but have no opinion for a diesel engine. I always thought these engines like thicker oil, but maybe I'm working on old memories that aren't accurate. Interested in other answers.

Oil for 1987 Saab 9000 Turbo

Common I don't doubt, but was there a real reason other than "just because everybody is doing that and 80's oils were crap"? That is a real question I'm asking (not just for the sake of it), as I'm not in the US, and more familiar with non Sweedish European brands.

Oil for Subaru Outback 2.0 diesel

I think you're right about my confusion between Honda and Toyota engine. That said a colleague of mine had a Honda where some timing components failed just after warranty expired, and that was her second one doing that. Too long oil change intervals probably.

    M1 0w-40 FS vs Rotella T6 5w-40

I guess he meant as opposed to splash lubrication, lawn mowers type?

Oil for Subaru Outback 2.0 diesel

I only heard bad things about that engine, but the few we see here on BITOG seem to be doing well at relatively high mileages. Same comment about the Honda 2.2 diesel that is (was?) sold in Europe, this is puzzling. Oh and also +1 for SHU 5W40 or Total Quartz Energy 5W40.

    Castrol Edge 0W-40 SP

Well I guess we could say the same for A3, albeit to a lesser extent :) Maybe it's a case of "because they can", because the oil meets it and it doesn't hurt to put it on the sticker. Maybe it's because in some countries it can still be a relevant spec? Or maybe they consider the older vehicle...

The B4 is for diesel engines. I see now you edited your diesel, nevermind!

    2010 Honda Accord J35Z3 | M1 0W40 | 4430mi

Here is the amended lab report. Several options: I got "Canadian service" and they just changed a few things here and there from the first report ; M1 altered the formulation, or that particular batch was blended differently ; someone changed my oil with something else ; I got "fake" oil from...

    2003 Civic M/T 5763 mi

That Honda MTF has an add pack reminiscent of a stout engine oil! Did you try other oils in the past in that transmission (but then why would you, according to the results)?

    2010 Honda Accord J35Z3 | M1 0W40 | 4430mi

Here is a VOA of Penzoil Euro 5W40 that was used before: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/pp-euro-5w40-sn-plus-formulation-voa.322868/ Nothing really makes sense, guess we'll either never know, unless I can get a retest. What also made me wonder was the TBN of 9.4 which sounded really...

    2010 Honda Accord J35Z3 | M1 0W40 | 4430mi

No I'm 100% positive it all came from the same 4.73L jug. I'm seeing a lot of lab errors lately, what is happening? Could it be leftovers from Previous Pennzoil 5W40 that wouldn't have been drained properly? I now remember (sorry I should have remembered before) I replaced the oil filter...

    2010 Honda Accord J35Z3 | M1 0W40 | 4430mi

Mmm... I think it's too late for me to ask for a retest, but I'll ask. There's also the possibility that I was wrong on the M1 batch, but it's definitely M1 0W40 that I used.
