    2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata (ND) - Castrol Edge 0w20 - 5900mi

Hi everyone, here's the first UOA for my 2018 Miata. Castrol Edge 0w20 for 5900 miles. I was mainly concerned with the 0w20 sheering down and getting too thin towards the end of the Mazda spec'd 7500 mile OCI. After seeing the UOA, I think the 0w20 can run 7500 miles without issue for my...

Castrol Edge Full Sythetic 5w30 - 2012 Nissan Frontier, 101k miles

Hey everyone, here's the most recent UOA on my 2012 Frontier. Changed a little early on this one because the weather was nice. Going to do my next UOA at 125k probably. Sitting at 115k now. Truck runs great!

    Yamaha WR250R Coolant

I knew this was the right place to come. You guys always give good explanations and easy to understand answers. Coolant is confusing and on so many forums they'll argue about color for hours without even mentioned the make-up of the actual chemicals in the stuff. Thanks!

    Yamaha WR250R Coolant

So I had a little crash the other day and now I'm replacing the radiator on my 2016 WR250R. I'm not sure what the previous owner put in there, old stuff came out blue, so it could be engine ice which is a common thing in the WRR community. Long story short, I use Zerex Asian Blue in my Nissan...

Recommend Oil For 2012 Nissan Frontier

Here's my last change, everything looking good, I may go 7k on this change, not sure yet, the 5k OCI isn't killing me, it gets me about 6 months out of the oil. I used a 10k mile Mobil 1 filter and Castrol Edge 5w30. But it depends on how much beach time the truck sees.

Drain and fill without filter change

You guys seem pretty confident that it'll be OK for the extended period. I'll go 7500 this fill and send a sample to Blackstone without changing the oil. Just to see what they say with my regular driving habits. Thanks for the input, as much as I like getting under my truck... It'd be nice to...

Drain and fill without filter change

The only reason I'm really doing 5k mile OCI's is because I log all my maintenance in carfax so when I go to trade or sell the truck someday I'll have a detailed record of what was done. Do you guys think the average buyer would be put off by 15k mile OCI's?

Drain and fill without filter change

Hey everyone, I've been using Castrol Edge full synthetic and I've been using Mobil 1 extended performance filters. The filter is supposed to be good for 15k miles. My OCI is 5k miles, can I use the filter for 2 or 3 changes? Should I just start using a cheaper filter and change it every time?

Recommend Oil For 2012 Nissan Frontier

Going to do my next change this coming weekend. Castrol Edge 5w30 has been working great I believe. I've been trying different filters however because I think I'm getting some extra noise on start-up. This change will be about 5k miles on the nose, hoping to see consistent numbers, and then...

Recommend Oil For 2012 Nissan Frontier

Just did my second change with Castrol Edge Full synthetic and a bosch filter. I went a little longer than I wanted to, like 4200 miles. I moved further from work too, I'm now driving 20 miles each way, So I think my engine should live a long happy life now with proper heat cycles and 4k mile...

Recommend Oil For 2012 Nissan Frontier

Thanks guys, you're the best! It seems like a smart idea to stick to Nissan's spec and just change it every 3750. That would work out to be twice a year anyway with my driving habits. I can get it at the local Walmart for $18.00 for a 5 Qt. jug so that works. I was thinking the Castrol...

Recommend Oil For 2012 Nissan Frontier

Let's get away from Castrol for a moment as it seems you guys have some other recommendations from other brands. Assuming the dealership is going to fight me on any engine failure claim anyway... Let's say I use another brand, what would be a decent choice? Could I get away with a 1 year OCI...

Recommend Oil For 2012 Nissan Frontier

I will for sure get a Blackstone Labs UOA after my first change. I've got a few kits laying around. The reason I'm leaning towards Castrol is because I bought the car from Carsense and they have an engine life guarantee if you use Castrol products for the life of the engine. Now, I don't expect...

Recommend Oil For 2012 Nissan Frontier

Hey everyone, sold my car and got back into a Nissan Frontier. This time around it's a 2012 V6, automatic trans 4x4. The first time I had a 2010 Frontier I went to quick lube places and didn't pay much attention to the maintenance of the truck. This time around I'm older, wiser, and more active...

My commute is 1.5 miles in 5 minutes. That's severe. I run it on the highway a few times a week to burn off as much as possible.

    '08 Nissan Pathfinder V6 - Oil choice

Interesting, I'll have to dig deeper into the specific ratings. I have a lot to learn. Thanks again guys, I'll update you when he changes the M1 EP and we get our UOA back.

    '08 Nissan Pathfinder V6 - Oil choice

You guys are really awesome, thanks so much. Yeah he is racking up miles very quickly, and with the way Nissan changed the newer Pathfinders into rounder, more cross-over looking vehicles, he's trying to hold on to the '08 as long as possible. They're pretty solid body-on-frame trucks, aside...
