Felix Baumgartner Dies In Paragliding Accident

"According to Sky Austria, he fell ill suddenly before the crash." This is somewhat concerning. And naturally opens the door to a lot of questions.

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

Astro, just to be clear on how these cutoff switches work. Say you were cruising at 35,000 ft. hand flying the airplane, and you moved one of these switches to "cutoff". Then waited 30 seconds, and moved it back. Would the engine flame out, spool down, then automatically relight and spool back...

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

Agree. But as was mentioned before, wouldn't that have been reported as a maintenance issue by a proceeding crew?

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

These switches require deliberate movement to shut down the engines. They are designed this way so they cannot accidentally be inadvertently shut off. Much like the ignition switch on your steering column. You would never "accidentally" switch it off, while trying to do something else, because...

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

I've said much the same. I remember reading articles in Popular Science back in the 70's that said my car would fly in 10 years.... I'm still buying tires.

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

American flight 587 crashed because the pilot was slamming rudder inputs so violently he managed to break it off. They obtained this information from the black box. It showed that it was the cause of the crash. I doubt they could have asertained anything more from a cockpit video.

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

I think the American Airlines DC-10 that crashed at O'Hare, when one of it's engines came off the pylon, had a cockpit video that showed the takeoff to the passengers. I doubt it could have showed much detail as far as actions by the flight crew. For one thing it was 1979, and TV monitors were...

Doctor In Town Dies In Hyperbaric Chamber

A physical therapy doctor here in town burned alive inside a hyperbaric oxygen chamber the other day. It apparently caught fire somehow, and blazed up, killing him. From what I've been reading, this isn't the first time this type of thing has happened with these devices. Things that might just...

    F1 The Movie

I just don't understand why they insist on such high volume settings, and at the same time destroy the dialogue to the point you can't hear it. This has been going on for a while now with theaters.

Air India Flight AI171 (Boeing 787-8) Crash

This is what I'm having a really difficult time getting past......... Because of the metal guards built around both switches, along with their location, and the added fact the switches themselves must be lifted before they can be moved, it is very hard to absorb that all of this could have been...

High rate of failure in first year-NOCO genius 1 battery charger/maintainer

I have had all 3 of my vehicles on NOCO Genius 1's for close to 4 years now, and all 3 are doing fine. I recently noticed that the 2 I had hooked up to my truck, and my Toyota Camry were remaining in, "Maintain Mode", (flashing green), for as long as 2 days before going solid green, "Monitor...
