Costco UK Engine Oil options (photos)

Yeah, as above A5/B5, which is/was ideal for previous cars I had. But no use to me now. I'm in the process of moving most of my fleet to a single 5w40 with Renault and Merc approvals.

Costco UK Engine Oil options (photos)

As a DIYer, I take my used fluids to our local authority run rubbish and recycling centre. Antifreeze, fuel, paint, other chemicals can be left there in a labelled container. Engine oil can be poured into a large tank. I tend to store my used engine oil in a 20L oil container (one that I bought...

Costco UK Engine Oil options (photos)

I always look at the engine oils available at my Costco, but I never buy anything. If they had some good value 20L of 5w40 I'd snap it up. Here's a look at what they have here in the UK. I don't think you can get Chevron oil anywhere else here.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

Is there anything else similar to Valvoline R&P that might be available in the Euro/UK market? I've been reading this thread and sadly can't get that product locally. We generally don't see "high mileage" or engine oils with that kind of marketing here.

Mercedes M274.910 1.6 Engine oil choice - advice and chat welcome

Haha, I need to make up for the years of driving Toyotas/Lexus. No seriously, I think these C180s are so basic that I think I can keep it going and DIY fix anything that crops up. Being in the UK means access to euro parts is cheap/straightforward, and being such a common car there is good...

Mercedes M274.910 1.6 Engine oil choice - advice and chat welcome

I suppose I'm just coming from Toyota land where there aren't specific approvals. Good to know. The Petronas was on promotion, so maybe I'll stock up. Thanks.

Mercedes M274.910 1.6 Engine oil choice - advice and chat welcome

I just bought a cheap Mercedes with the M274.910 1.6T engine on 110k miles and immediately bought some oil on clearance to do my first oil change without much thought. I got PETRONAS Syntium 3000 AV 5W-40 which even has the Mercedes logo on the bottle . Specifications: Meets or exceeds...

Do any tire manufacturers have official guidance on tire shine / tire dressing products?

Response from Bridgestone: "Thank you for your email. With regards to Bridgestone tyre products, we do not recommend the use of any tyre dressing regardless of the brand. We are not able to confirm the long term effect of tyre dressings on the rubber compound, as in some cases this may degrade...

Do any tire manufacturers have official guidance on tire shine / tire dressing products?

This is an oil forum, we are professionals at overthinking here ;)

Do any tire manufacturers have official guidance on tire shine / tire dressing products?

That's exactly the kind of thing I am interested in. Pretty cool. Sadly I cannot find that product for sale anywhere in the UK.

Do any tire manufacturers have official guidance on tire shine / tire dressing products?

Here's the email response I got from the Goodyear UK Technical team: Interestingly they have somewhat avoided the question, but also added some detail about specifically using warm soapy water and avoiding the use of high pressure water. This is interesting because most car wash places in the...

Do any tire manufacturers have official guidance on tire shine / tire dressing products?

Why use it? Because it can protect against cracking supposedly - that's the question. Plus it makes the car look good. I don't hate it, it makes any vehicle look good, but the question here is does it have the potential to protect and reduce how soon the rubber becomes cracked.

Do any tire manufacturers have official guidance on tire shine / tire dressing products?

I am trying to gather information on this topic from official sources like the big global tire makers since there are opinions that tire shine can degrade or protect tires depending on who you ask. I can't make sense of whether silicone is good for tyres or not which some products proudly claim...

    Post your latest oil change

Oil change on some of the fleet... I finally invested in a genuine Toyota oil filter tool. The aftermarket ones I have tried were all really poor and would get stuck on some engines where the clearance around the filter is tight. I used it on the GS450H, the Auris 1.8L hybrid and it should...

    Total quartz or valvoline oil?

Total is highly regarded. Its basically OEM fill on a lot of Euro cars, including Renault. Their Elf stuff is basically Total which is why I now buy it in bulk. Some people don't realise that some of largest oil brands in the world aren't available or popular in the American market, Total...

Are the days of the 10k OCI over with?

The extended OCI and "the car's computer will tell you when it needs an oil change" are only serving the types of people who buy the vehicle new, and return it within 3-4 years. Most people on this forum probably aren't that, they are either buying a new car with the intention of keeping it for...

Genuine Toyota A3 filter - looking very orange

That's cool, maybe I'll try to get an A1 at the next change for lols. Btw, how do you get to know these codes for the filters, the diagrams never seem to include them?

Genuine Toyota A3 filter - looking very orange

Wait, so what filter do you guys put into the 2GR-FE, A5? Mine is a 2GR-FSE. I realised that all the aftermarket filters for my car come with the plastic drain and the second o-ring. You probably haven't seen an A7 filter because you probably don't get the 1NR-FE in North Amerika market. Ours...

Genuine Toyota A3 filter - looking very orange

Haha, nice one. I knew I'd get yet further reassurance by asking on here. A quick google reveals a Youtube comment with some useful info on the bulletin code: @MrMagichobo21 12 days ago They are not counterfeit. TOYOTA issued a PANT (Parts and Accessory News Today) Bulletin 2023-003 on...

Genuine Toyota A3 filter - looking very orange

For comparison, here is a photo I took at the previous oil change. On the right is the genuine A3 filter from the same dealership. Note the difference in colour. Ignore the filter on the left, that's a Mann filter for our Yaris (A7 Toyota filter)
