    Oil extraction is great!

Here is a video of a garage in the UK doing a driveline service on a BMW without removing the rear diff cover, it doesn't even have a drain.

    Oil extraction is great!

I've never understood the "large sediments" argument. Why would there be large sediments, and why do we assume these would flow out of the sump bung and not through the extraction tube? We have more serious problems if there are large sediments in the bottom of the sump! We are talking about an...

    Oil extraction is great!

I'm stuffing the hose all the way down the dipstick tube until it hits what I assume is the bottom of the pan. Once most of the oil is out, I give it a good jiggle around. Yeah we do get some nice models, but we miss out on some of the Toyota/Lexus stuff you guys get, especially the bigger...

    Oil extraction is great!

I think you'll see the oil siphon out through the clear tube into the tank. Its those jobs for friends and family that this kinda thing really shines for. My floor jack is a two person lift, and with the current condition of my back, I won't be lifting it on my own anymore.

    Oil extraction is great!

Its too convenient, the jump points for the battery are perfectly placed for this cheap pump to sit near the dipstick tube. Glad you approve.

    Oil extraction is great!

I hear you, I still gotta test it out to see for myself, but honestly I don't care if it leaves even half a litre behind. With a 3 - 5k mile OCI and a clean(ish) engine, it wouldn't bother me, especially since I use the same oil product each time for this vehicle so no additives combability...

    Oil extraction is great!

I was sort of told off for not getting the vacuum one on another forum, because apparently you only have to do a few pumps and the rest of it siphons out, but I'd rather not do any manual pumping at all :ROFLMAO: Yes, I learned that too. Makes sense because there are two undertrays that need to...

    Oil extraction is great!

Since getting this MB C180, I did the first oil change the traditional way, I drained as much of the old oil as possible, and even ran some fresh oil through. But since then, I've done 2 more oil changes using a cheap 12v oil extractor and I am completely converted! I can change my oil...

Who makes BMW's "store brand" oil?

Yeah those are the guys who think every decision that BMW makes is a result of their godly omniscient abilities. They worship the brand like no other. Our 2012 E92 says Castrol on the oil cap. Do we put Castrol in it? Nope.

Should I change my oil after a misfire due to a leaking fuel injector?

This option wasn't given by the MB dealer or any of the indie (Bosch accredited) garages that I called. With 130k miles on them, I think I made the right call, but I wasn't aware that this could've been option. I think I've heard about this being done with common rail diesel injectors, so I...

Should I change my oil after a misfire due to a leaking fuel injector?

Millers does a used oil analysis in £40 - that's only a few pounds less than what the oil change costs me. I could've got a used oil analysis to satisfy my curiosity, but I don't think it would be useful for deciding whether to change the oil in this situation. If I was to get one, I'd rather...

Should I change my oil after a misfire due to a leaking fuel injector?

About equivalent to 1300 USD for all 4, including labour and "coding/learning" or whatever it is that my basic scan tool can't do. The Mercedes dealer wanted that price to replace just 1 injector, along with 3 seals, so I went with an independent shop and used Bosch injectors.

Should I change my oil after a misfire due to a leaking fuel injector?

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I have ordered some oil and a new filter.

Should I change my oil after a misfire due to a leaking fuel injector?

Well if its not firing it means unburnt fuel is potentially in the combustion chamber. Where is it going? Most of it will vapourise and go out through the exhaust. Some of it might leak past valve stem seals and piston rings into the crankcase.

Should I change my oil after a misfire due to a leaking fuel injector?

About a year ago I posted on here that I bought a relatively cheap Mercedes, and people told me it was a mistake (see thread: Thread ). My favourite technicians and MOT testers have also told me it was a bad choice too, but I still like the car 🤪 Anyway, I put about 20k miles on it since then...

    Purchased a BMW E92 320i N43 - first BMW, first oil change

I know they are very popular, but personally not a fan. I noticed that they cut a corner (quite literally) on an air filter I buy. For example, here is the Purflux air filter which I use for our Dacia, which has a super common engine here in Europe (0.9L TCe used in Renault, Nissan, Smart and...

    Purchased a BMW E92 320i N43 - first BMW, first oil change

To confuse things even more, the EU introduced a new standard for fuel pump labels, so we now refer to the commonly available petrol as E5 and E10. (contains max 5% or 10% ethanol). Like what the tuners use E85. E10 is generally 95RON so I guess that is equivalent to the 91 that you're...

    Purchased a BMW E92 320i N43 - first BMW, first oil change

They're OEM for BMW and my Merc and I know they're very highly rated, I've used them for years in various cars. Though recently I've been trying Febi Bilstein parts for many things including filters, and brakes, they are very well priced and seem to be very good quality. I don't think you get...

    Purchased a BMW E92 320i N43 - first BMW, first oil change

Yes you're absolutely right, new o-rings came with the new filter. I had removed the old ones in the photo and cleaned the cartridge. This is the photo from the filter listing. It also included a sump plug washer, which was nice.
