    M5 Annual Oil Change?

    It's a late 01, after the debated 5w-30 change. I didn't know M1 was over LL-01, interesting.

No love for briggs and stratton engines anymore?

I fix small engines on the side. Some of the new Honda mowers have a 'thermowax' operated automatic choke. That wax fails and the choke never opens. Briggs makes some super-cheapo OHV engines I see now with a plastic carb. I don't know their long term but I've fixed a few of those, not really...

    Oil recommendation for 2008 BMW M3 V8 S65

Liqui Moly GT1 10W60 is what many guys run in their M engines calling for 10W60. Great results with it, less expensive than the dealer Castrol stuff.

    M5 Annual Oil Change?

I have ran Liqui Moly GT1 10W60 in my E39 M5 since I got it 6 years ago. I only put a few thousand KM's on it each year but have changed the oil every spring regardless. Is this necessary? I have no real beef doing it, but at over $100 an oil change if I can get two years out of it with no harm...

Subaru SP170 - Stalls when throttle opened quickly

    There is indeed no fuel pump, gravity fed and the carb has a fuel filter setup on the side of it that blocks the idle mixture screw while the fuel line is attached. Which is unfortunate. I'll do more searching for air leaks and report back. Thanks;

Subaru SP170 - Stalls when throttle opened quickly

Subaru SP170DT1150 on a Rigid air compressor. Has a Mikuni carb on it, with idle mixture screw. Fairly sophisticated for a small engine carb. From what I've gathered it is very similar to the Subaru EX17 engine. This engine has had a multitude of issues lately. It got a brand new carb installed...

    Is 10w40 is frowned on?

Sorry for the spelling error in the title. I created this thread while a passenger in a vehicle... Anyway; will this 'modern' 10w40 have the same stability in a lawnmower as a cheap HD sae 30 would? If I put it in somebodies lawnmower that they will neglect for the next several years, is there...

    Is 10w40 is frowned on?

5.3 is a 2005 gen III HO L33 engine. Yes calls for 5w30. It would be summer use. May-Sept or so. I think my olm usually gets to single digits about 8000kms anyway. I already put some in my Briggs and scrap 'em. It's not one season I'm worried about in a mower (mine) , it's those that might go...

    Is 10w40 is frowned on?

I got a a bunch of 10w40 for cheap. ($2.25 liter) from a guy who is moving. It's 2012 manufacture qsad SN. I then recalled that 10w40 was frowned on at one point by at least GM due to shearing and break down. I was going to use it in my 5.3 Silverado. Option 2 is use it in small engines...

Mixing Liqui Moly GT1 10W60 in with TWS

Seems these M cars have more 'oil' discussions than any car I have experienced. You get the BMW official stance that the LL-01 is fine from that production date, but then the fear is that BMW switched to that at the same time they changed to free service on the car for X number of years, and...

Mixing Liqui Moly GT1 10W60 in with TWS

My M5 calls for 10W60, I have used Liqui Moly GT1 for several years but found a guy selling some TWS for a good price (less than I pay for my liqui moly) and will be putting that in the car this spring. I do however have about 2 liters of Liqui moly GT1 left over from last year. Is there a...
