Yea i think its pathetic that a dealer ship that sells and services hyundai wont take the time to reasearch there product and learn the correct way to service them.

My dealer uses smittys super s syn blend for all the vehicals that come in for a bulk oil change. My tucson states that a 5w30 that meets acea b5 spec must be used. From my understanding super s multiflow 5w30 doea not meet that.

A though just came over me. How come the dealer can use a oil that doesnt meet the specs for this vehical but if i were to use it on my own i would be denied warranty work?

Well i bought a extended warranty and if i ever had to make a warranty claim they wouldnt question it if the dealer did the work. Otherwise i do all my own work

Got the first oil change done on the tuscon yesterday. Ended up providing my own jug of penzoil plat 5w30 to the dealer and they charged $10 labor and $11 for the oem filter. I didnt think that was a bad deal, the service manager told me that it would only be $32 plus a $10 rebate if i just used...

So what is the verdict here. I hate that this is such a hard decision but i only want the best for my application and also adhering to the requirements for warranty purposes. Does qsud 5w30 have a5 cert and if not why do they recomend an oil that doesnt meet there own requirements

I agree with useing pp. Ive used in it the dart for its entire life of 30k miles. Ive since found the data sheet for castrol edge ep and its a5 certified. I wouldnt be afraid to run that oil either but there was a comment some one left about there being a tsb on the oil filter, can someone shed...

From what i can read on the bottles, only Pennzoil plat 5w30 is acea a5 none of the others in 5w30 meet that. Is that correct or am i missing something here

At my local walmart i can get 5w30 castrol edge with ti, edge ep, reg m1 and ep. Also pen plat. What would you guys use out of that bunch, now the filter might be an inconvenience because i would like to keep the oil and filter on the same recipt and my local walmart does not carry mann filters...

At work iv seen company trucks that have the gm 6.0 and the new 5.3 idle 12 hours a day and then drive home over 100 miles away. Those guys run the olm down to 0 and then get it changed at any ol quick lube place. They get well over 100k on the trucks without any problems
