    No good deed goes unpunished.

Better be to be driven nuts by a minor enough car damage like that than to be in a major accident with cars totalled and possible injuries I would think.

20 pages and now I know it is cheaper to cook your food yourself than to pay someone at a restaurant to do it for you. Yea!!!

    Surf Fishing

Go to a local tackle and bait store, tell them you will be going surf fishing and need some supplies along with some advice. 9 out of ten will help you as well as sell you the exact bait or tackle that will help.

Poor quality work when brake work done; Nasty surprise last night

People get upset at $150+ an hour labor charges these days. I am starting to get the impression that it is not so easy to hire competent techs at the salary levels needed to keep the hourly labor charge all that much lower and still make it a profitable shop with all of the other expenses like...

    Realtors in Florida

They didn't say all luxury finishes are included. They didn't even say that non luxury finishes (which I assume would include some sort of backsplash these days) are included. I suspect I may have a bright future in that lawyering business I have heard about.

    Mailbox hit by drunk driver

Curious if the driver was actually drunk and perhaps taken in by LEO for DUI, or is is just assumed that a driver would have to be drunk to hit something like that.

    Corporate word salad

Similar to the message given on a New York City subway car that is not moving: "We are sorry for the delay, but will be moving just as soon as congestion ahead is gone" Well that always made me feel better as it would be kind of silly of them to not start up just as soon as the congestion...

Did we reach peak frugality 15 years ago?

No doubt. But folks tend to get a several year warranty on new appliances which have to be fixed or replaced one way of the other. If out of warranty, the repair often makes no sense to do

Did we reach peak frugality 15 years ago?

My take is that the electronic parts in modern appliances are now cheaper to just replace than the cost of labor to diagnose as well as travel time on crowded roads. Had an issue with a new stove, the tech diagnosed the issue in 60 seconds as a main control board. When the part comes in he...

    2018 RAV 4 vs. 2018 CRV

Maybe I am getting old, but it doesn't seem like all that long ago when reliability for Toyota and Honda was considered to be pretty much the same.

2017 GMC Terrain with blown engine 51,000 miles

3800 to 4000 or 5000 kilometer intervals well exceed any manufacter oil change interval, at least in the US on mainstream modern cars like a 2017 Chevy Terrain. It certainly wasn't anything the owner did regarding oil changes.
